Milagro is a bitter lesbian wizard who forsook her life in the city to study magic in the woods after her father's death at the hands of his chronic illness. She lives in a small (previously) abandoned cabin about 2 miles into the forest with her cat Mirage and her housemate Margaret, and spends her days studying and practicing the art of illusion. She visits the city to purchase supplies and borrow tomes for her studies, but rarely and quietly enough that she has become somewhat of a "witch from the woods" to the people there. She is painfully lonely and longs for companionship, but has virtually no social skills and tends to frighten people away with her surly appearance and hostile manner.

Born to a single father who home-schooled her, Milagro has been something of an outcast to people her age her entire life. She was raised with a deep appreciation for magic and heavy machinery (as it was her father's craft), and developed a hunger for knowledge as her talent with magic grew. By the age of 15 she was essentially schooling herself, only asking for help when it was absolutely necessary. She couldn't empathize with the inability to understand big concepts, and never learned how to approach anything she couldn't nail on the first try, and as such was further isolated from her peers. Growing up in relative seclusion severely stunted her social development and prevented her from making connections with those around her; once her father died, she had no reason to not completely remove herself from society.

Since meeting her housemate Maggie, Milagro has learned to ease her boundaries and not react to anyone trying to know her with immediate hostility. Her social ability is still a work in progress, but she is earnestly trying. She's been entertaining the idea of travelling with a party, if only for the opportunity to study magic from different sources around the continent.
