Babylon

Babylon loves plants, so much so that he convinced his roommate to let him turn their patio into a jungle and works at a nursery. He's a customer favorite at his job because he can lift several bags of dirt at once and figure out what's going wrong with a plant just by looking at it. On the other hand, his technical plant knowledge is virtually nonexistent, and he can and will have a small mental breakdown if he's asked to as much as ID a plant. (He doesn't know what half the plants he owns are. They came unlabelled and at this point he's too afraid to ask.)

He's a very kind, if not occasionally oblivious man. He'll hold doors open for lengths of time that most people would consider unreasonable, and he's quick to offer his muscle to people if they're having a hard time carrying something. However, he's by no means a doormat; while he almost never angers, he's perfectly willing to give you a stern talking to if you mistreat him. Fortunately for you, that's about the worst you'll get from him; while he could pick you up and throw you, he wouldn't. Don't underestimate how devastating it is for him to be disappointed in you, though.

Virtually everyone who meets him takes a liking to him very quickly. He isn't as quick to warm up to people; he's by no means a recluse, but he doesn't like large-scale socialization. He prefers more intimate social gatherings to parties or other big events.

• He is a fantastic hugger and will happily give hugs on request. He works out so he can carry more gardening supplies at once and (most importantly) so he can give better hugs.
• He's tried to eat edible-looking soap at least once.
• He prefers T-shirts and sweaters because they fit more comfortably than buttoned shirts. He often finds himself staring longingly at floral-print button-up shirts at the store.
• He grew up in a tiny rural town and as a result finds even the small city he lives in now to be gigantic.
• Even he can't manage to keep calatheas alive. He doesn't know them by name, but he knows they're very fussy plants and chooses to avoid them.

Oberon is his roommate. They met in line at a coffee shop shortly after Babylon had moved to the city. Babylon considers Oberon to be his closest friend. He also finds Oberon's attempts at seeming cool amusing, though he won't tell him that to his face.

He and Tyler met at the nursery while she was shopping for seeds for her flower garden. Since then, they've become friends, bonding over their shared affinity for plants; Babylon finds Tyler positively lovely, much to the confusion of many other people who know her.
