Iris Sumitama

To become a proper Ultimate Honors Student, you must study every  waking moment, live a half-life made of caffeine, constantly annoy everyone about what colleges you’ve applied to, and whine about getting a 95% when the rest of the class fails. Iris Sumitama does most of these  things. Okay, fine, she doesn’t actually rub her academics in everyone’s faces, but she sure does seem like she would considering that literally the only thing she has to be proud of is her perfect college entrance exam scores. Even then, she’s fully aware that anything she might actually want to study wouldn’t be profitable, so her only aspiration is to go into… research? Please. Someone’s gotta teach her how to be a proper teenager.

The thing about having nothing to your name but academics is that you have a lot to learn about the real world. The thing about learning about the real world is that it is so incredibly overwhelming, and that’s scary, so can’t we just stick to what we’re comfortable with? Welcome to Iris’s life, where she’s constantly three steps from a nervous breakdown. Genuinely, she’s a sweet and curious person outside of this, and wishes she had more time for actual friendships - but she’s often so caught up in herself and Not Combusting that social dynamics fly over her head, as does anything not immediately pertaining to herself. I’m prescribing her an 8 PM bedtime immediately.
