Seeking to create a respectful impression, Aspen always attempts to conduct himself in a courteous manner. His owner’s partner inspired him to admire the concept of a considerate gentleman, and he strives to be as humble and polite as his ideal. Because of this, he grew to have a very modest mindset and feels embarrassed whenever he receives an excessive amount of attention. Although he makes it a point to be well-mannered, his actions do reflect the sincerity of his feelings. He’s grateful to all those who’ve made an impact in his life, and hopes his efforts showcase his appreciation.

Believing that there’s good within everyone, Aspen strives to consistently be the best version of himself. Owning a very gentle and benevolent soul, he welcomes all company with open arms. No matter the trouble, he strongly maintains the belief that even a single act of kindness can go a long way. Incredibly patient and cordial, he has a good tolerance for even the most unbearable. While his heart is in no way made of steel, negativity toward others is something he hopes to avoid.

Genuinely ignorant to ill-intentions, Aspen consistently tries his best to retain a kind and polite demeanor. No matter how uncomfortable he may feel, he often brushes his negative feelings aside in belief that he’s experiencing “culture shock.” Because of this, he makes sure to be as thoughtful as possible, and is careful not to inconvenience or hurt others. Unfortunately, this causes him to be worryingly forgiving of misdeeds. For some, his leniency can be seen as something to take advantage of—and he often falls into the trap.

Resulting from the circumstances of his birth, Aspen doesn’t have many long term goals for the future. While others search for their own paths, he feels stuck at a stand-still and currently lives a callow life in wonder. The concept of having whims and desires is something he still doesn’t fully understand—and despite being alive for longer than most others—he continuously struggles to identify his own feelings at times. Even his thoughts regarding his relationships with others is something he has difficulty comprehending, frequently mistaking one emotion for another. His elusive worries are often kept to himself—disliking to be mocked or seen as strange for fretting over them.

Due to his unwavering curiosity about the world around him, Aspen naturally gravitates toward new experiences. He can become very chatty and inquisitive about anything and everything—sometimes going off into his own little world. His piqued interests can cause him to be swept away at times, and it’s not unheard of for him to get into trouble somehow because of it.

Ever since he gained sentience, Ren had always carried darkness in his heart. Unfortunately holding many irrational fears due to his memories as an object, he dodges attempts that make him feel vulnerable and becomes reclusive until his feelings temporarily subside. Disliking the mere notion of hurting or holding back those who are dear, he feels it necessary to keep himself in check. While generally open about exploring most thoughts, there’s a noticeable distance he refuses to cross—and becomes evasive when it comes to confronting his own issues.

Often sporting a tender expression, there are times when Aspen can be caught in a daze. He’s rather secretive with his more negative emotions and dislikes it when people pry into his hardships. Because he doesn’t want to trouble others with his truly pessimistic mindset, he prefers to keep topics about himself generally positive. Disliking conflict, he isn’t the most confrontational person unless harm is induced on others. He tends to keep his own personal complaints to himself, and is generally passive when feeling discomfort.

Following the events that preceded his owner’s death, Aspen grew a dubious attitude toward his own close relationships. Although his paranoia is steadily improving as the years go by, he keeps a realistic mindset on the possibility of losing his loved ones due to war or political conflict. Not daring to take any chances, he hopes to consistently showcase his compassion for those dear to him before his fears about their end become reality.

Waiting…. was his earliest memory. Picked up by an initially unfriendly aristocrat, the emotions embedded into Aspen were not for himself, but for his owner’s partner. The warm feelings of love—their mutual enchantment—gave birth to his consciousness. Recollecting his past was akin remembering a dream. Observing their story—as if watching a movie—he felt melancholy for the first time when their romance met with tragedy. Before his next chapter began in Rozelia, he prayed that after death, his owner would find happiness again in heaven with his beloved.

Gaining consciousness once he became a resident of the floating kingdom, Aspen started his life in the upper echelons due to the heightened magical powers associated with his original form. He mingled with other Clockhearts—listening to their stories, making friends, and eventually finding his beloved within the city. While indulging himself within the species’ unique culture, his uneasiness started to grow as he became excessively aware of the Queen of Hearts’ tyrant rule. For years that blurred into constant anxiety, he feared for his loved ones as the number of executions and missing persons intensified...

Now with the defeat of the matriarch, Aspen yearns to explore the lands beyond Rozelia. Having made up his mind during the aftermaths of the battle, he sets off toward Saint Spell.
