the shadowbeast, also called the viewbird, has one head for five of the six primary emotions: hatred, love, fear, sadness, and joy. (the sixth emotion, apathy, is often called the "faceless feeling" because no single expression shows it). it governs emotion, and the posterior. emotions are inherently associated with shadows, and are said to always be behind you no matter where you stand.
the shadowbeast must be chained down to prevent it leaving, and taking complex understanding of emotion with it.
