Fossil

About

Fossil is a teary-eyed boy who's constantly sniffling and on the verge of crying. It doesn't take much to tip him over the edge and send him bawling and howling, the skull helmet on his head causing an echoing, mournful sound that just about breaks the heart of anyone who hears it.

He's sensitive and caring, and doesn't like to be alone.

When Fossil notices someone who appears to be upset, he will softly pat them wherever he can reach and climb into their lap to wipe their tears with a soft cooing or crooning sound.

Fossil wants to grow up to be a big strong dinosaur, and idolizes any dino-themed gifts. His soft blue sweater used to be a security blanket given to him by a past trainer who abandoned him. His new trainer Tyrian made it into a sweater for him so he wouldn't have to carry it around anymore, and Fossil now wears it everywhere he goes.

Story

Fossil once belonged to a trainer who was primarily interested in plant pokemon. When he noticed his trainer was unhappy with him, he tried to please them by decorating his skull helmet with flowers and leaves, hoping his trainer would like him better that way and take him along to more shows if he looked like the others in his trainer's collection. The plants growing there bloomed beautifully, watered by his tears and leading to a slightly overgrown appearance if not pruned back consistently.

His past trainer eventually decided it was time to let him go, dropping him off at a pokemon center and promising to return, leaving him with a blue baby blanket to keep him company "until he got back".

Fossil waited for a very long time, toting the blanket around with him as he wailed futily. The edges of the blanket became torn and tattered, but he refused to let go of it because he wanted to make sure his owner would recognize him. He became fairly well known among the patients and nurses there, quick to help calm anxious trainers and pokemon despite his own anxiety and despair.

Tyrian spotted him on a visit to the center and made some inquiries, sitting down with Fossil while waiting for the pokemon he brought to be healed. The two took a liking to each other right away, and when it was time for tyrian to leave, Fossil hugged his leg and wouldn't let go until Tyrian picked him up and promised to never leave him alone again.

Tyrian later washed the blanket and cut off the tattered edges, fashioning it into a sweater for Fossil to wear. He even added a dinosaur patch on the front after noticing how excited Fossil was by the dinsaur exhibits in a museum they visited.
