Profile

Can a God become an asura?

This was a question no one in the cosmos dare ask, that was, until Karun fell from the heavens and disgraced his family.

Before Karun was regarded as an asura, he was a prince in the 5th level of the heavens, Swarga. In Swarga, the kings are voted in by sages and serve a term for a short while. Karun's father, Saamarthya, had already been serving for a few ages. Although it's not common, occasionally the children of a king can also be considered to rule depending on the favor by the sages. Karun never had much intention to rule, but his father had sensed some potential in him and had been preparing him in case the occasion arose. Karun, although incredibly powerful, charismatic, versed in the ancient texts, and well liked by peers in the heavens, he was a person who had very little care for anything in particular. He preferred to spend his days mucking about and playing around with arrows. Saamarthya grew tired of Karun's apathy, and thus sent him on a mission to incarnate on earth in hopes of getting him to grow up and show him off to the heavens.

But, the complete unexpected happened.

Karun ended up becoming a villain on earth, and ultimately murdered an entire royal family while on a bloody rampage—and curiously, killing an asura king who'd also been incarnated on earth at the same time as him. When Karun had been killed on earth, he returned to the heavens with no recollection of his past life. In order to save face, his father sent Karun straight to Vitala as a peace offering, ultimately leaving his fate in the hands of the mysterious and powerful asura, Chetan.

The whole cosmos expects Chetan to kill Karun and absorb his powers, like any grieving son would—but, once again, Karun's fate defied expectations.

Suddenly, the heavens hears word that Prince Chetan had asked for Karun's hand in marriage, and Karun, interestingly enough, accepts his offer without any kind of hassle.

The cosmos is in shock that such a thing—a marriage between asura and deity, could even be allowed in the order of the cosmos. However, with Karun legally being regarded as an asura, and his rights being stripped from him in heaven, there's not very much his father can do—not exactly like his father would be caught lifting a finger for him, either way.

And so begins Karun's life, a deity who fell from grace and now lives as a consort to an asura prince. Karun has never liked to be held captive, and this has been all he's ever felt while in heaven, and strangely, he should feel the same now that he's banished to the underworld. However, Karun has never felt more free.
