Dante is a suave, charismatic, and charming prince. He's a perfect gentleman, an ideal suitor, and a skilled tactician. By all appearances, he's a dream come true to any prince or princess looking for a king to share their country with. However, below the surface, Dante has many imperfections. He's hot tempered (literally), and jumps at any chance to prove his worth to others, even if it's not exactly necessary. He holds no hesitation to throw himself on the front lines of conflict, much to the behest of those who care about him. Due to his past, he struggles to understand why people may not want him to continually prove himself, and even more so struggles with understanding that he's enough for those who love him just as he is. Sharing his feelings is not something he's used to either, leading to many conflicts and misunderstandings. In summary, Dante is a hardworking and loyal prince with untreated self esteem issues, but he's a kind soul and treats others with respect and care.

Dante never had the easiest of childhoods. While he was born into royalty, he was the product of his father's affair with his mother, a succubus. His mother left him with his father as soon as he was old enough to walk, and his father had no idea what to do. Seeing no other choice, he disclosed his affair to his wife, and reasoned that they couldn't leave a child with royal blood to run amok. So, Dante was granted a place in the castle, much to the queen's ire. He served to her as a constant reminder of his father's affair and the rift in her relationship. Due to his large wings and horns, he also reminded those who saw him of a tyrant leader from days long passed. To remedy this blight on their proud lineage, the queen ensured that his crown hid his horns, and made sure the servants knew to bind his wings as tightly to him as they could. Between the queen's ridicule and the general disdain he was treated with due to his looks, Dante didn't precisely enjoy his time at the castle. Desperate for the pride and positive attention of his family, he constantly sought to prove himself through dangerous tasks and rigorous training. As a result, he's very skilled in combat, and was frequently sent off to help lead their kingdom's aggressive battles. The queen herself suggested this, and though Dante tried to take it as a sign of her wanting to make amends, it soon became clear that she'd suggested it in an effort to be rid of him for good. He returned home victorious every time, much to her dismay. No matter how hard he tried, his efforts were never enough to win the respect of the queen and her children, and his father never once stood up for him against her.
The queen was not one to give up of course - after it became clear that Dante was flourishing instead of dying on the battlefield, she resorted to her secondary plan. She officially opened Dante up for courtship requests, and given Dante's dashing good looks and surface level charisma, he was soon met with a sea of marriage requests from neighboring nations' princes and princesses. While all of those who sought his courtship were beautiful, he never found himself connecting with any of them on a deeper level. Someone of his position usually didn't worry about such things in these times, and instead figured that love would come later. However, having experienced the effects of his parents' loveless relationships throughout his life, he felt it important to find a true connection. He was about to lose hope, until a request arrived from an icy kingdom far to the north.
The eligible prince to the north piqued Dante's interest almost immediately - he was attractive, sure, but Dante fell for his soft and shy personality. While Jasper seemed hesitant at first, Dante assured him that he would not accept the courtship request unless Jasper was sure he loved him in return. After getting to know each other, their feelings were mutual, and both fell head over heels for the other. Nowadays, Dante resides in the icy kingdom to the north with his husband, in a relationship with more love and value than he'd ever dreamed.
Around 1000 years have passed since the end of the tyrant king Silvain's rule, he has long since disappeared. His removal has allowed the entire region to flourish in these more modern times. While dainties exist in this world, they are uncommon, and seeing one is said to be a sign of good luck. While noble lineage is still recognized and prized, it isn't as important or as focal as it used to be. However, there's a strong stigma against demon or dragon dainties of any kind, as they tend to resemble Silvain and remind of a darker past. As such, it is generally considered bad practice for a demon or dragon dainty to attain power, though it's not impossible or intentionally prevented.
