Vampire AU
Katakuri, an ancient vampire, was turned sometime in the Middle Ages. He's lost count of the year, and lost track of the man who originally turned him. He originally had little love for humanity, and had been known to leave many unsolved, mysterious murders in his wake for a long period of time. That is, until he met a woman in Roccoco France. He fell in love, but did not turn her. All too quickly, she became sick. His immortality turned its back on him, forcing him to live on after her all too short life had ended...
In Victorian England, and still fresh from the pain, Katakuri met a rough young man, Maren, who reminded him of his dead lover. Time passed as they got to know each other, two men in the furniture business. Katakuri a dealer of antiques, and Maren a woodworker, exceptional with antique repair, fascinated by Katakuri's ability to acquire old items of high quality. Not long after they become official business partners with the underpinnings of homoeroticism, Maren falls ill with a deadly disease.
Afraid of the pain of losing his companion again, Katakuri selfishly turns Maren to a vampire, taking him under his wing. Things all seem well until Katakuri realizes that Maren does not share his love for humanity. Maren, having never been given the option to die, feels embittered at Katakuri and at humanity for its fragility. They do not see eye to eye on the morality of vampirism.
Katakuri feeds in minimal amounts, using restraint and animal blood to make sure he doesn't kill. Maren is fine with this until he re-learns the pleasure of a filled stomach, and questions his partner's disgust for taking lives when their hunger is such a powerful force...
Eventually this comes to head, and in their disagreement, Katakuri compares Maren to his dead lover. Maren leaves, believing that Katakuri had never truly cared for him. Katakuri follows, and in a blinding flash of tooth and nail, the two fight each other to the brink of collapse. Unable to kill Maren, Katakuri leaves him, alone on death's door...
Many years pass, Maren and Katakuri stay separated. Maren grows, changes, much like Katakuri once did. When will they meet again?
