Vea’s a bizarre individual. She’s friendly to those around her but comes off as aloof. She prefers her own company but doesn’t shy from others if they’re intent on being around her. She’s used to going at her own pace but sometimes does kick herself into gear if something interests her. She doesn’t put much effort or interest in getting to know people. For the possibility that they might die or leave her for one reason or another. She does have some close friends and allies and she does keep them as close to her as she can. As for her bizarre nature, she seems to either be half-asleep some days or just unwillingly to speak to those around her. Sometimes she’ll play twenty questions or lead someone on in riddles.

She’s a very calm person, keen on being observant and patient. Wait out her enemies to see possible weaknesses and so on. She rarely acts on impulse, but when she does, it’s for a personal reason. She prefers to sit back and watch the people around her or even nature instead. She’s very resourceful and knows the limits of her own strength. She’ll give it her all with whatever task she’s given and never backs down from a challenge.

She’s very keen on upholding her own honor code and the rules of the Hunters. So much so, it’s slightly worrying how devoted she is to them. She lives by the rules the Hunters set and never acts outside her own honor code either.

All in all, Vea is a good individual; she's just been given the rough end of the deal in life.

History

Vea was born in Lestallum and was always seen with her father and older brother. Her father was a hunter so she spent most of her time chasing after her brother. That's not to say that she didn't spend any time with her father but he was busy trying to provide for them. Vea and her brother Salutis had an aunt and an uncle to look out for them. For the most part, Vea's childhood was more or less pretty simple -- she went to school, made friends, and nothing overly traumatic happened. Well, not until both Vea and Salutis came home to find out from the Hunters that their father had passed away on a mission -- by then though, both of them had taken an interest in joining the Hunters themselves and wanted to help out against the rising sightings of daemons. Though they were both greatly upset with their father's death, Vea and her brother were old enough to deal with it. Vea had graduated from school and was helping run a couple of the cafes and restaurants part time in Lestallum. When the two managed to get enough money for their own gear, the two set out to Meldacio north of Lestallum, where the Hunter HQ was. Eager to take up what their father did, the two did fairly well keeping up with the other Hunters around them. They were bound to make mistakes but they also made up for them by doing whatever they could. Both Vea and Salutis spent more time camping than staying at their homes in Lestallum. A few years later, they would become well known to most of the people of Lucis.

They made friends all over the kingdom and helped any traveler they came across. They wanted to see the life their father led and were content with it... until the rise of daemon sightings became more and more apparent. Following the other Hunters, they managed to fend them off with as much ease as they could. The two siblings were often seen guiding people to havens as night and helped protect them agains the daemons that appeared. However, the two were sent to deal with a daemon that was killing travelers at night. Salutis talked Vea out of joining him, not wanting her to get hurt and feeling confident that he could take on the daemon without her. So she stayed at Meldacio and waited for his return. When the next day passed however, and the days after, Vea began to get worried. She asked a friend, Dave Auburnbrie, if they could go looking for him. They set out to look for him in the area he was supposed to fight the daemon. They didn't find anything, save for blood that was strewn about but neither of them could figure out who it belonged to. They asked some people nearby if they knew anything about what happened to Salutis. A store clerk told them that someone matching his description went to fight the daemon but they hadn't seen or heard of him since he left a few days before. Vea and Dave searched the area again however, she was certain that her brother wasn't dead like Dave had suggested. They searched for his dog tags, knowing they'd be around somewhere if Dave was right. Instead, Vea found her brother's scarf -- something she's taken to wearing in his memory since. Since then, Vea has been determined that her brother is truly alive and not dead like the other Hunters claim. She's often seen traveling by herself -- either on foot or on a motorcycle. She keeps to herself for the most part but does help anyone who needs it. She does blame herself for Salutis' disappearance however, thinking that she should've joined him instead of doing what he asked. She searches the entirety of Lucis, or as much as she can with the means she's given, to look for her brother and hasn't given up yet.

Vea runs into Prince Noctis and his friends after Isomnia fell and his father died. They caught her sleeping at a haven and, after she awoke, told her Dave was looking for her. She shrugged them off however as she went to go find him. Vea ran into them again soon after however as she was continuing her search for her brother. However, Dave had given her the task of fighting off some dangerous wildlife in a nearby forest. So she joined them and even saved Prompto from becoming someone's lunch as she and Gladio took out the dangerous beast. Afterwards, Vea formally introduced herself to them and apologized for her behavior. After they talked, Vea asked if they saw anyone that looked like her brother and wasn't surprised that they hadn't. Though Noctis had promised that if they did they'd tell her. Even knowing the notion was pointless, she appreciated the gesture nevertheless and felt a little renewed by the idea of it.

Sometime after her encounter with them, Vea took on some more jobs -- feeling exhausted in her fruitless search for her brother. Though she hadn't given up on him, she was wondering if she had to start getting over it now rather than later. She pushed the thought aside as she took on another job. She went to slay some daemons, and when she was done, encountered a strange being. She was exhausted from her fight -- having spent most of her energy searching the daemons rather than fighting them -- and wasn't ready for a second round. When the stranger looked at her, Vea was surprised to see that it looked like her brother and she was abruptly attacked by it. She managed to get away but after she recovered her strength, she was assaulted by it again. Vea found out that it was a daemon -- despite it's human-like appearance -- and knew it was making an enemy out of her for some reason. During her second encounter, she was overcome by its strength and ended up losing her eye. The only way she survived was the creature stopping itself but she fainted from blood loss before anything else was clear. When she came to, she was in Lestallum and had an eyepatch. She learned that someone had carried her to Lestallum -- it having been the nearest place to treat her from where she was originally. She imagined the creature might've taken her to the city but wondered about it. Mostly to why it attacked her then brought her home. She returned to Meldacio, explained everything that happened to Dave and told her about the creature. He doubted that it was her brother but the two surmised that if it was, it could've been feeling remorse. In the end, Vea knew that her brother had to be alive and assumed that it was the creature that attacked her. Though she didn't have much time to search for it after hearing what happened in Altissia and then soon after experiencing the world around her turning into darkness.

After Noctis' 10 year slumber in the Crystal, Vea joined the Hunters in their attempt to fight off the daemons. She helped anyone she could get to safety and later encountered Noctis' friends. She helped them get situated, as well as anyone else who wanted to help them. She became closer with Ignis, Prompto, and Gladiolus and considered them friends as time passed. She and Gladio started dating though they weren't sure if now was the time or not however Gladio had convinced her otherwise -- saying that if these are their last days together, better to spend them with as many memories as they could make. She agreed to it, eventually, and they continued to see where their relationship would end up. As the years passed, Vea became more tired and wary. She began to lose hope that the darkness would ever fade, despite Gladio and other's disputing her. She also began to lose hope that she'd see her brother again. She confronted Gladio about it and somehow was both proven wrong and found a way to hope again.

Soon after Noctis had awoken and Vea joined Gladio in the reunion. She was at Hammerhead with everyone when they saw him again but stayed behind as they all left from Insomnia. Vea hadn't felt so scared before as she watched them all leave. She was afraid she wouldn't see any of them again, at least Gladio. To busy herself, she grabbed her sword, as many bombs as she could take with her, and a flashlight. She took off and slew whatever daemons got in her way. She was resting from a fight, trying to recover her strength, when the sky began to light up. She looked around, seeing that everything looked like it was normal again. Feeling hopeful, and a little worried, Vea rushed over to Hammerhead and waited for the boys' to return. When they did, there was only three of them and they all mourned for Noctis together. However, she was glad that they were alive and well, especially Gladio.

Relationships

Salutis Pax [ Brother ] Vea's older brother who's missing. She's spent most of her life searching for him and refuses to believe the fact that he might be dead. She has a lot of fond memories of her brother when they were younger and proudly regales in them as well. They were inseparable growing up and now that she's searching for him, believes he's alive somewhere. However, her searches have led to numerous dead ends. Eventually, she does give into the idea that Salu might be gone but then she runs into some odd occurrences that lead her to believe that he's still alive. Even running into someone that could pass as him if he was older.

Dave Auburnbrie [ Mentor | Close Friend | Partner ] Vea's mentor of sorts and someone that looks out for her. She's always out and about and rarely goes home to the Hunter HQ however, he's usually looking for her and makes sure she's okay. She looks up to Dave and admires him. She rarely argues against whatever he needs from her or if someone tells her to go find him. She knows he's looking out for her for the most part and wants her to not push herself too hard but she can't help but push herself. All in all, there's nothing she wouldn't do if Dave asked and tries to live up to his expectations.

Gladiolus Amicitia [ Close Friend | Boyfriend ] Vea likes Gladio's gusto and bravado. Though they got off on the wrong foot at first, the more they got to know each other the more she started to warm up to him and his friends. The two saw eye to eye as they encountered one another in the Kingdom of Lucis, completing all sorts of hunts, saving whoever was being tormented by daemons, and so on. After Noctis disappeared into the Lucis Crystal, both of them started to get pretty close. Sooner or later they became a thing and started to date. They didn't start thinking about marriage until after Noctis sacrificed himself to banish the darkness.
