Kioku Kyuurei | she/her | 23

Kioku Kyuurei's life is an enigma.

Supposedly a retired idol who moved to the city Myrios once the quarantine lifted, she is just the right amount of polite and flirtatious that could get her nearly anything she wanted from the right person. Sure, she may have a cautious streak, but wouldn't anyone if they had a device suddenly implanted in their head? Bold, mature, and single, surely a date like her is too good to be true.

Because she is.

Kioku's story doesn't line up, but one would be forgiven for overlooking it. With no record of her past as an idol, a rather unusual name, and her only social media being her dating profile, it almost seems as if Kioku just appeared one day. She also would do anything to avoid being scanned with the hologram profile app developed by Ares, even at the risk of her own safety. When one looks just below the surface, they might realize that Kioku isn't a potential partner, she's a woman who desperately needs help from an unlikely source.

Because of the device implanted in Kioku's head, she had to do whatever she could to track down the Ares scientist and doctor Garu Orochi for his help, even if that meant finding his online dating profile and agreeing to go on a date with him, just to have a chance at meeting him and getting his help in having the device removed. But that still leaves the question, who is Kioku Kyuurei really?

Appearance:

Kioku has long black hair that is slightly wavy from a curling iron. She has her hair pinned over one side of her face, with two shorter segments curled at her shoulders. She has a cool complexion, icy blue eyes, and she wears black lipstick. Her eyeshadow, the two diamond shaped buckles in her hair, and the bottom of her coat are all also icy blue. Her coat is long and has a diamond cutout shape over the chest. There is faux fur at the bottom of her coat and dress pants. She wears short black boots with a thick heel.

Personality:

Kioku is serious and slightly flirtatious. Though she has many concerns about her potential safety, she never voices them aloud, and she tends to ask questions of others rather than to reveal too much, if anything, about herself. Overall she has a rather mature demeanor, but she isn't afraid to flatter others to win them over.

She is very goal-oriented and is willing to use others to get closer to results, but she will treat them professionally when she does so. She's surprisingly deferential on the outside, willing to do anything at all as long as it would help her in the end, although this is often supplemented by her own dry observations internally. Kioku is also surprisingly grateful to those who do help her, even if she has to be less than honest with them in order to get access to them.

Kioku's demeanor only thinly veils her willpower, which is likely her strongest trait. She believes no cost is too much for her intentions, no matter how much it hurts her in the end. She's likely convinced she's invincible and the problem is that she hasn't been proven wrong.

Abilities:

If asked, Kioku would probably say she has no abilities to speak of. However, the device in her head allows her to possess an inhuman quantity of memories. Due to an encounter with Phecda Shioto, who viewed her memories through her dreams, the quantity must be over 500 years of memories, as he states it is more memories than he has seen out of both his own and all those whose dreams he's walked through combined.

Because she has witnessed so many lifetimes, she has incredible mental fortitude, and while she wishes to remove the device she refuses to let the weight of what she's seen get to her. She's willing to admit that the process of having so many memories flood her mind wasn't pleasant, but she wouldn't dare accept even the slightest possibility that it could have broken her mind somehow like it was supposed to, because it sure didn't break her spirit.

Trivia:

- Kioku doesn't smoke, even when offered cigars. This is likely more for politeness in declining something expensive rather than because she is concerned about the health risks.

- Despite her flirtatious nature, she hates kissing.

- Kioku doesn't swear around others until she gets to know them. When she does, she releases a lot of her reserved demeanor, but is still rather careful with how she is being perceived.

- To disable the device in her head, Kioku had to undergo a process called 'reprogramming', which can entirely rewrite parts of one's mind. She was warned before that the process was painful and often had long-lasting effects on the mental wellbeing of those who experienced it (giving one man a permanent phobia related to his experience, and causing another person to commit suicide to avoid undergoing the process a second time). She still went ahead with the procedure, despite knowing its effects could leave her worse off than she started. Even the owner of the company Ares who built the reprogramming machine was disturbed by the fact that she underwent this process.

- Kioku can't drive. She's a total passenger princess.

- Kioku doesn't curl all of her hair herself. She gets help from a friend to curl it.

- The same friend does her makeup. Kioku doesn't actually like the feeling of heavy makeup, preferring light makeup, but she understands that her catfishing is more effective with it.

-The device in her head is a memory hard drive made by Ares. It is a newer model than Tekuka's, with voice activation features for memory recall and without the delay in retrieving memories that Tekuka's has. If it were to reach its capacity, it would overwrite their organic memories, but this was a problem for neither of them as Tekuka had no organic memories left and Kioku's device had so much storage that it never had to overwrite anything.

-If a magnet is placed to the incision where the device was implanted, it will temporarily scramble Kioku's thoughts.

- (she shows up for like 2 chapters, hence how little is on the profile. oops.)
