Personality

Edison is grumpy, she is obnoxious, she is a piece of work. She believes the world took too much from her, and she will fight you to the last to get back what she thinks she deserves. Before her run-in with immortality, she was hot headed, self-aggrandizing, and a little too cool a talker (if you were someone above her). Now, she doesn't care about life, she doesn't care about politics, she doesn't care about you, and she thinks that pissing someone off until they try to destroy her is the funniest thing. When she first had people at her feet, calling her god, she picked up the ability to just be uncomfortably annoying, until the point where the person wished she'd go away. THAT was something she could happily do. Now, though she's in a land where she wouldn't be considered a "god" because of all the magic around, she still tries to keep her distance far from others as she just doesn't like them and doesn't see them worth her time. Which is infinite. She has an infinite amount of time and none of it is able to be dedicated to your petty life. (196 words)

History

She came, she saw, she conquered. Except that she did none of those things.

Edison was born in a small town in Ivras in 1132, joined the military, and rose just as far as a nonmage who didn't get along with others and had no leadership skills could get. She did the work, but she wasn't remembered for it. So she went and tried to slay a monster, all one her lonesome. That's not an especially brilliant thing to do, but she somehow did it (and her magic, which was not helpful in this instance, woke up, too)! But she hadn't taken into account that maybe someone didn't want them slain, and she suffered for it. Luckily (or unluckily - she's upset about it now), she called on Fortune for life and Fortune said, "Mmmmm... sure, why not."

So she became an immortal, wish granting, rather corrupt individual. Many people didn't enjoy her prsesence, what with the gold dripping into her eyes and the GIANT, many-eyed halo that surrounded her head. But that's just fine because she doesn't like them anyways. So she left. Travelled for awhile. Found a place that treated her as a minor deity for a time, which would have been nice except she was expected to do something for them and she really didn't care for that. That's just how her magic works, though, so she was just straight out of luck. Eventually she got bored, as she often did as a mortal and found that her attention span got shorter, not longer. On one of these travels, she ran into Felgrave who was returning to Ivras. Ugh, bringing up that old place again. Probably still talked about her and her exploits, right? (Wrong - no one knew or cared who she was during her normal lifespan - why should they care now?). Edison was, of course, tried to be as absolutely annoying as she could be, and it seemed to work - Felgrave left. But, on parting, he told her that he wished her "well on the path to Ivras," and her magic heard the word "WISH" and said "WE GOTTA GO. WE, WE GOTTA." And she suddenly found herself returning to Ivras.

So now she's back, trying to keep to the fringe of thing, and yelling about a waste of space that was just trying to be nice. (390)

Corruption05

If someone uses the phrase "I wish," Edison's magic latches on to the words and, if possible, causes the object to appear. This works in two seperate ways - the first is to move objects, and the second is directly related to Edison's life. For the objects, Edison is able to bring or move away most (smaller - up to slightly heavier than she could naturally carry) things. How, she doesn't know, but she's most likely magickly stealing them from somewhere. For directly related to her, someone can wish Edison away (and she has to leave - this is her favorite), to have a good day (and she will see all the positives for that day but you can bet she won't be happy about it), to skip twelve paces and then lay down until she's rained on (ones like this tend to only last a day or so).

Costs

  • Magic does not work or has no effect except under specific circumstances - her magic does not work at all unless someone utters (around her, near her, to her - within hearing) "I wish". It alsp only works once per day per person per type of wish (example : someone can ask for a burrito and then ask that she leaves them alone forever)
  • Magic disables one or more of the caster's senses while it is in use - Edison completely loses the ability to see until the wish is granted
