Griffin Sylvester

Griffin’s backstory is a bit of a mystery even for him.  His parents are unknown and as far as he knows he was raised by his “grandmother” during the early years of his life.  During Professor Zion’s survey of Avians, he encountered the young boy.  The grandmother meant well but she did not have much to her name to care for herself much less him as well.  So she let him take Griffin to raise in his home at the age of 6.  Griffin considers the professor as a father figure though would never intentionally call him “dad” or “father”.  Since growing up with the professor, Griffin has the most knowledge of human culture compared to the others in the apprenticeship program.  This knowledge is quite the irony as Griffin has Avain traits that are very rare outside royalty or deemed to be extinct.  

Griffin has lived most of his life alone and has grown to like it.  He likes music since Luke makes all these songs and playlists that are so well catered to him.  Griffin unfortunately has insomnia and to deal with the boredom that comes with it, has learned to bake.  He often drinks coffee in the morning to try and fight the exhaustion so having sweet treats with it became a habit.  You can find him in the kitchen in the wee hours of the night/morning making cupcakes or sweet breads.  In his free time, he likes to draw the things around him or read horror books.  He might prefer to be alone but is very loyal to those close to him.  He dislikes sharing his treats, bad jokes, (this usually means puns) and showing emotional weakness.  Or any emotion in general really, he likes to keep a neutral or displeased look on his face. 

Since Griffin was the first of the apprenticeship program he met Luke first and later met Micah.  Luke worked hard to get to know him and eventually become his best friend. (Though Griffin would never admit this) He sometimes gets into arguments with Micah, though they are still close friends.  Taylor has declared herself as his “cousin” and makes sure he is taking care of himself properly since she shares a few of the rare Avian traits he has.  Outwardly, it appears as if Griffin dislikes the affection but internally appreciates that she checks that he is doing okay.  He is neutral towards Claire, as he doesn’t have the stipulation most of his race has against humans, but he doesn’t have much of a reason to like her either.  He barely knows Ray as much more than the significant other of Luke.  Other than the fact that it’s his fault when Luke cancels plans with Griffin to spend time with him instead.
