Their right glove is an artist glove (covers the ring and pinky finger only), the left one is a normal fingerless glove.

The sleeve zippers can, in fact, zip up.

Certain parts can glow in the dark. I don’t know which ones.

The outer jacket closes using velcro! The inner one has a zipper.
02 — Personality
A manta ray with a strange aversion to their ocean home. Their heart beats to the rhythm of the music all around her. Though rather playful and not always the brightest, they are very dedicated and strive to share their song with everyone willing to listen. She is pretty emotional, even if it doesn’t always show.
Based on appearances only they might come off as a little bit smug, and… yeah. They kinda are! But that smugness stems from deep insecurity that even they don’t know the origins of. She does her best to be kind and caring regardless, but of course that does not always work out. Despite her passion she is rather timid, and tends not to speak too much unless she is close with the other person (or under a lot of stress).
She loves to sing, but the quality of her voice is up for debate.

03 — Background
Origins
Though Kani was born in the ocean, an incident when she was young planted seeds of fear deep within her… now she can hardly look at it without feeling at least a bit unsettled. She is caught between a fascination with it and an inexplicable fear of it. Understandably, they left the ocean as soon as they were able. Manta rays are pretty solitary creatures, so fortunately she wasn’t leaving much behind. They moved around quite a bit before settling in a city full of birds, and making a few friends there.
Her aversion to the ocean is often challenged by a calling to it. Every once in a while she’ll find herself thinking, “Is it really that bad? Surely by now my fear has gotten a little better,” but that is rarely ever true. Her fascination does not cancel out the fear, and she ends up making things worse somehow.
Current Life
Her current hometown (the name depends on who you ask, but she calls it Port Aviary) is a very musical place, and so her love of singing only increased as she stayed there. When they aren’t working they like to walk around the city; there’s a lot to explore, endless entertainment venues, lots of great food, and even some interesting museums. Like any city out there, it has plenty of flaws, but regardless they consider it to be their true home (rather than the sea).
Of all the friends they made in Port Aviary, their closest one is a piece of coral named Themis, whom they met at work in MSco. Together the two have formed a duo called Amaryllis, and they post songs online! They are very very close, and always looking for ways to spend more time with each other.

Stands for “Marlin Shipping Company.” They deliver mail and various products. Kani works for them!
04 — Trivia

She is essentially a sona, but still her own character. Her personality/story is heavily based on mine, but it’s not a 1:1 replica! I guess… more of a mascot than a true sona.

They are incredibly sentimental and often end up keeping useless little things for years after they’ve served their purpose.

The reason they dislike most seafood is because they’re allergic to it! Pretty inconvenient for a manta ray, but it’s ok. They’ve managed so far ww

Their favorite weather is the kind of weather you get when spring is just starting and winter is coming to a close. Where I live, that means mild temperatures that blend the best parts of a warm sun and a cool breeze together. Bonus points if it has rained/snowed recently.

Their thalassophobia doesn’t prevent them from enjoying some parts of the ocean, but in general they prefer to avoid it. The one thing that they cannot tolerate no matter what is the sheer depth of it all. Stuff like looking down and only seeing deep blue makes it difficult to function.
05 — Relationships

These two are the members of the “Amaryllis” duo. They sing together because of their mutual love of singing, it’s just a fortunate coincidence that their voices sound good together. The focus of the group is the music, but they both have fun with additional stuff too, like character lore (Themis does most of this) and music videos (Kani does most of these).
Outside of Amaryllis, their dynamic is mostly the same. They trust each other deeply, and love each other unconditionally. Kani always makes sure to invite Themis to whatever silly hangout she has planned, but Themis is a very busy person and doesn’t always have time. Even so, they both make time for the other when they can, both for Amaryllis-related projects and just to spend time together.

Talia is basically a mascot character with extra steps, just like Kani. So naturally, in some strange alternate universe, the two are absolutely friends.
They like to mess around together and work on silly projects. According to some, the two of them co-own the keys to the universe or something. I dunno man, just don’t put them in the same room under normal circumstances.
