Commander of the HMS Wandering Albatross and exuberant pirate hunter, Riptide was born to travel the open ocean. The salty air, the creaking floorboards, the roar of waves; she loves it all and plans on spending her entire life sailing from coast to coast. Riptide is stubborn and can make rash decisions, but ultimately she means well and would go to the ends of the earth for those she cares about. Riptide wears her heart on her sleeve. She trusts others too easily and has paid the price for it on more than one occasion, but she has seen enough good in the world that she is still willing to give anyone the benefit of the doubt. Riptide grew up on stories of great expeditions and is always on the lookout for the start of her own saga. She's been through a lot but hasn't quite found it. Outwardly, she is boisterous and cheerful, but sometimes when the lanterns are out and the only company is the rocking boat and a cold moon, Riptide looks back on the life she's lived and the shipmates that have come and gone, and she's swallowed up by old regrets and guilt.
