A Faller from modern-day Unova. Aquilo was pulled through a space-time rift that deposited him in 19th century Kalos. Misplaced in time, he tried his best to adapt.
Aquilo now functions as a merchant alongside his companion Alizee, though his aptitude for catching Pokemon earned him the unofficial gig of rounding up any dangerous Pokemon that may wander into town as well. They eventually began to travel to different regions to export their wares.
His background in research has led him to casually compile his own field notes of Pokemon he comes across, though he has no official involvement in any Pokedex.
Aquilo washed ashore on the beach beneath Ambrette, with a stray Nihilego not far behind him. Once he came to, he fled from it and straight to the first sign of human life he could find: the small chapel situated on Ambrette's outskirts. There he first encountered Vicar Cereus, an Arceus-worshiping man who oversaw the chapel and the Pokemon who sought shelter there.
Cereus, aware of Aquilo's status as a Faller, thought of it as a blessing from Arceus. No matter how many times Aquilo says otherwise, it doesn't really matter. The vicar's jealousy made him treat Aquilo unkindly until he could prove himself worthy - which at first meant catching the wandering Nihilego.
With no companion Pokemon or items to help him, Aquilo saw the task as insurmountable... until a wandering merchant noticed him struggling and stopped to help him. Alizee offered him her aid in subduing Nihilego. Afterwards, seeing that he had no place to go, Alizee offered to take him in and mentor him in her trade. They returned to her base of operations in Cyllage, where Aquilo eventually joined the local guild as a merchant proper.
From then on he did whatever odd job could keep his mind occupied, from rounding up Pokemon to taking his own field notes to occasionally doing some actual merchandising. His growing camaraderie with Alizee is most of what kept him grounded.
After a decade of gallavanting around Kalos and the neighboring region of Paldea, and - on the occasion, Galar as well - Alizee set her sights on exporting Kalosian textile to the far-off region of Hisui. She invited Aquilo to come along with her, despite his hesitancy.
The journey by ship took over a month. Aquilo didn't love it.
He found himself unamused by Commander Kamado straightaway, too. The Galaxy Team didn't mince words, and they were rather austere. He did establish a friendly relationship with the clothier, Anthe, however; she took a healthy amount of his merchandise off his hands.
Aquilo and Alizee also made inroads with the Pearl Clan, albeit unintentionally at first. Aquilo found himself very curious about Warden Ingo upon meeting him. He couldn't place the memories, but he knew they'd met before. Though he also befriended the warden Palina as well, eventually, and he has a fondness for the young clan leader Irida.
When Alizee departed Hisui to return to Kalos, Aquilo made the decision to stay behind. It was a high-risk, low-reward sort of thing: he was mostly thinking about how badly he wanted to know more about Ingo, the man shrouded in similar mysterious circumstances to him.
Ingo didn't take well to Aquilo's overbearing approach at first. Over time, though, he saw that Aquilo didn't mean him any grief. When Aquilo's not wandering aimlessly, he's usually taking advantage of Ingo's hospitality on Mt. Coronet or in the Pearl Clan's settlement in the Alabaster Icelands.
5'7" / 170 cm tall. Average/tall-ish. Hair is somewhat wavy and neck-length. It's a blueish black color, can be bluer if you want (doesn't have to be color-picked). White on the bottom, with streaks of gray in his hair. Has two long ahoge that mimic Altaria's feathers. I tend to draw them with 'Mickey ear' rules, so the white ahoge is on our right regardless of what way he's facing.
Somewhat of an athletic build, with some musculature but not he's not shredded or anything. He is pear-shaped, meaning his hips are bigger than his chest... he's all lower body strength, but neither proportion should be exaggerated too much.
Bottom lash on both eyes. Light freckles under his eyes, beauty mark on his chin and under his right eye. The yellow highlights in his eyes are a part of his iris, but eye shine is optional.
- Mixed latino. He has a medium skintone, please don't lighten it too much.
- His freckles can be easy to miss, but I prefer him to have them! They are not as dark as his beauty marks.
- For what it's worth, Aquilo is trans and gnc. He doesn't care about being perceived as masculine or feminine (most of the time), and his presentation can vary, though he does admittedly like to be considered pretty. He's a bit fussy over his appearance, though his hair care routine is regularly messed up by his birds.
- He has a scar on his face from Sneasel scratching the hell out of him, under the hair that covers his eye. I still have not drawn a reference for this lol, so it does not have to be exact. His eye doesn't always have to be covered, though.
- He may have other scars on his body as well, but this is again something I haven't really concretely figured out myself. So you're free to improvise when it comes to that.

- Just a bit of a showoff... At times known to "make a scene".
- After years of being what he'd call a spineless pushover, Aquilo really doesn't like when he thinks people are taking advantage of him or poking fun at him. He's a bit insecure and jumpy. As one would expect he and Melli can go at each other like rabid animals if they're not separated.
- He has no psychic abilities, but sometimes uses his bond with Braviary to psychokinetically manipulate himself or objects. This is for ease of traveling with heavy cargo or traversing steep, narrow places around Mount Coronet.
- While living in Kalos, Aquilo studied fencing and swordplay in Lumiose. He sometimes spars with Cyllene.
- He has recently taken up kyūdō as well, the martial art of archery.
- Though, he actually has more lower body strength than upper body strength.
- Known to be a flirt and a gossip. Combined with Ambrose or his mentor Madame Alizee during a night on the town, he is considered "pretty annoying."
- He's not good at selling his wares. He often offloads them as gifts to Ingo or other townsfolk he likes. Aquilo doesn't want to be under Commander Kamado's thumb, though, so he refuses to join the Supply Corps or any branch of the Galaxy Team.
