Personality

Ian is a soft spoken, noble man with a kind heart. He is protective and will go out of his way to help those in need, even if it means that he has nothing to gain (or will be beaten for it by Aren). He is quiet and will not talk unless necessary, though when he is irritated he will make sarcastic quips. Due to hundreds of years of abuse and torture, he is nervous around people he doesn't know and dislikes being touched, unless it's someone he trusts. Once he gets to know someone well enough to trust them, he is a loyal friend.

Description

Tall, at 6'5". Ian has a lean, athletic build with muscle tone and a pale complexion. He has bright blue eyes. His hair is waist length and layered, and is black like raven feathers. He almost always looks like he's exhausted. There is a scar on his right hip where Aren stabbed him during a battle while Ian was still human. As such, it didn't vanish like the rest of his wounds do.

Ian wears modern clothes. Button down shirts and slacks are his preference, but he will wear long sleeve shirts (like cotton ones) on occasion, he typically wears boots or dress shoes. He prefers darker colors.

Background

Ian was born in Ireland, in the late Middle Ages. His parents were killed by vampires while they slept, six year old Ian left to die as well. Since his father was a knight, the lord he worked for took Ian in and had him become a page when he turned seven. The boy worked hard and was able to become a squire to a knight who was a friend of his father's. Eventually, when he reached 21 and had proven himself, he was knighted. Not long after, he and the knight he had been a squire for formed The Guild, a league of vampire hunters. Several knights, and even peasants and nobles, joined, all people who had had run ins with vampires. Many had the same vampire in common, a tall man with long red hair and eyes that almost looked the color of blood, the same vampire who had killed Ian's family.

As the years passed, Ian became one of the best known vampire hunters and traveled throughout Europe, though his main goal was always to find the vampire who murdered his parents. When he was 25, and had gone back to Ireland, he met that red-haired vampire on a battlefield. The vampire used the pretense of war for easy meals, as he had become bored with just breaking into people's houses. The two men fought, though Ian was no match for the Elder vampire, Aren Varstrel. Aren recognized his scent as that of the boy from so many years ago and felt that their meeting again must have been fate, as he was sure that he had killed the boy. He turned Ian into a vampire and decided to keep him on a short leash as his special pet.

Over the years, Ian would undergo countless hours of abuse every day, from beatings and rape to dismemberment and being put back together, only to be ripped apart again. He would always fight back, which seemed to make Aren enjoy it all the more. There were times when he was able to escape, sometimes for only a day, sometimes for as long as a year, before Aren found him again and dragged him back. Though the torture was worse after those escapes, the reprieve from Aren was always a blessing.

In the current day, he lives in Varstrel Manor with Aren, Dante, Rasia, and a few other vampires who come and go. He still undergoes the same torture, though he no longer fights back as much, as Aren threatens him with treating Rasia in the same way. Ian made a promise to himself, and Rasia, that he would protect the human boy the best he could. While he is still used for feeding, and the occasional sexual favor, Aren has kept his promise of not being exceptionally violent with him, as long as Ian continues to behave.
