Brilliars are very social flock beings - they like to stay in big groups of "families" that all share the same surname and shares responsibilities as though they were a family, despite almost never entirely bloodrelated. All the kids in the group are "your child" and all the adults are "your parent", of course depending on which agegroup you fall under. As such, Luxander grew up in a society where almost everythign was a group project and where "sharing is caring". People's mood and health around xem was intensely important to xem and xe always adored being able to help make others days better. No matter if that was done through helping out with tasks or putting on a play for others. Xes creativity strenghtened xes result and it wasn't that odd that Lux felt as though xe had a calling towards being an entertainer. Lux was endlessly curious and eager to learn in order to better the space around xem, so much so that the forest xe had called home suddenly didn't feel like quite enough as xe grew larger.
When Lux came of age, xe finally decided to try explore the world beyond Amaiminia (the incredibly large forest he came from) Xes family was rather supportive of xes decision to do so, as it wasn't completely out of the norm for Brilliars to travel to other places once they grew old, only to return later, unless they found a new home or family. That said,t his practice was more normal within the forest you usually stayed in and so Lux's want to leave was a bit odd in that regard. Even so, Lux's family was excited to see Lux achieve and explore all xe wanted to.
The world outside wasn't what Lux had expected. For the most parts, Amaiminia's inhabitants had a rather symbiotic relationship. At least in the most generally habitated spaces. Within the autumn maze, people were rather aware of what kind of beings lived and though they didn't always get along, they managed to live mostly peacefully. So when Lux was exposed to the outside and xes destination was a human civilization without much globalization, Lux was surprised to say the least. Xe didn't think it would be much of an issue though, as they seemed to take in Lux with rather open arms. Being that brilliars are rather human-passing, Lux wasn't considered strange enough to be a danger. Within this town, Lux soaked in the foreign culture and way of living. The strange traditions and humor - Lux was endlessly fascinated and excited about it. Lux learnt what humans were like and though xe initially missed the much more obvious diversity, xe discovered just how much nuance something seemingly similar could have. It wasn't like Lux entirely understood and could follow along to everything, but when xe did something strange, it was often seen as humorously fooling around. People seemed to enjoy how quirky and strange Lux somehow seemed to them. It taught xem not to judge too hard on something xe didn't understand. Because of that, it was incredibly devastating when it came out that Lux wasn't human but in fact a brilliar. Despite the people being unable to tell so, the sheer name send waves of fear amongst people. Brillars, after all, were known to be monstrous beings that lurked in the forest - human as sight, animals at heart. They could charm and lure their prey in with their hypnotizing glow and would then eat their preys. This meant that all the good fortune and fun Lux had brought, suddenly was the reason people were terrified. Clearly, brilliars were indeed smart and dangerous!
Wanting to teach Lux a lesson, the humans lashed out by chasing xem out of town in a rain of stones thrown at xem. The incident gave Lux not only xes facial scar, but also petraphobia, fear of rocks. The people xe cared for, that xe shared of xemself and xes abilities hated xem. Though Lux was aware that this was probably one horribly mistake and that xe xemself wasn't bad, it was hard to drive the intrusive thoughts away. Xe wasn't bad. Xe knew that but-- if... if it scared people. If it frightened them- Lux never wanted to frighten or scare anyone around xem, anyone xe cared for.
A rush of homesickness filled xem, back to a world where the ground was littered in flora and not stones everytime xe cast xes gaze downwards. But if xe left back towards the forest, xe would have to explain what happened and though the incident had just been unfortunate, the idea of having to chastize humans like that made xe feel sullied. Like the biggotry xe had faced tainted xem and forced xem to feed the same beast all over again. The idea was crushing. What would xe say about those wounds, about those scars?
Positive. Luxander simply needed to be positive. It was the best weapon towards hatred. To make it all stop, to make the pain and the hurt stop in xem and others, xe wouldn't let it taint xes mind.
Though xes intentions were only positive, there was a certain toxic positivity happening within xes mind, one that excluded xeself from feeling sad or unhappy. If xe was sad, how was xe supposed to lift others mood? Instead of seeking the comfort xe wanted, Lux insisted it would be for the better if xe continued xes journey; tried again.
Lux' set out into another direction, travelling out to see what else the world had to offer, as the memories's next attempt would be the large kingdom of Jalia, something purposely unlike the place he had been before. Though Lux did not plan to settle there, merely pass through, the people, the colors and strange magic pulled xem in immedeatly. How wonderful. How- how nostalgic. This could maybe be a home.
Lux didn't quite understand the structure of this place, as this was unlike the society xe had seen before and unlike the one xe grew up in. Once xe learnt there was a Monarch of Jalia, Lux felt quite rude and flustered though. Obviously it was only common sense to seek out the monarch to give a gift and a thank you, for letting xem stay there. At least, this was normal whenever you visited the brilliar Monarch in Amaiminia and so xe assumed it would be the same here. Xe didn't really know much about this Queen Juna, but asking around, others seemed generally fond of her and so xe decided to go for it, that it wold be a good opportunity to show xes appreciation for the open welcome. Perhaps if xe did, the changes of xe getting hurt would be less! After preparing an offering, or a gift, Lux crawled into the royal garden, expecting that any monarchs would decided to reside where the nature is the strongest. Though it lacked the incredibly tall trees of the Amai, it was quite pretty. A familiar and lovely sight. Lux felt safe for the first time in a long while.
Looking around, xe did not see any people that really struck xem as a queen. Luckily however, the large balcony that looked out over the garden seemed like the next logical step of where to go. If Lux were a Queen, xe'd probably have that room. Putting the gift in a safe place, Lux eyed the wall and climbed up the stones on the side. The thick vines that grew along it proved to be a great help to get up fast and once up, Lux slid down over the railing and knocked on the window. Curtains were drawn, so Lux couldn't see anything inside, but after a while, they were pulled back. On the other side of the glass stood a woman in blue, the giant hat being what Lux took as the sure sign that xe had found the right person.
Lux introduced xemselves through the glass door, to which the woman smiled and greeted back, introducing herself as the Queen of Jalia, Juna Solistelluna. Lux explained why xe was there, how humbled and excited xe was to see what Jalia had to offer, as xe pulled out xes gift - a simple, polished light wooden sphere. Juna nodded and opened the door for xem, saying that she was grateful that xe felt like that. Lux was quite pleased with the fact that Juna seemed so incredibly calm and pleasant to be around. The true air of a Monarch. The people's parent. Lux offered her the gift and once she took it, she let her hands cup it and glide her thumbs over the completely round shape. A light knuckle hit on it as if to figure out what the material was, before she smiled pleased, telling xem that it was wonderful. Lux explained it was the full moon xe had made for her. It looked like she enjoyed moons and that moons were a part of her home, so now she had a bit of home she could take with her, whenever she needed to. Juna seemed to completely understand xes intentions and thanked xem deeply for the gift. What was meant ot be a quick visit turned into a long chat of Juna askign questions such as why Lux was gifting her this and why xe was on her balcony. The answers didn't seem to concern her, instead she seemed to humor her immensely. As time passed, Juna instead offered that Lux could come inside and talk onwards. This exchange grew into a friendship where Lux would stop by occasionally to talk, whenever Juna had time. After a while, Juna offered Lux a job at the Court of Jalia as a court jester. The Jesters of Jalia were hired individual that were there to test a bunch of things, explore the new concepts, products and ideas that Jalia had to offer. Some would test physical things, others would test laws or restrictions, in order to create data on whether these implimentations could be made. Essentially they were paid to figure out if something was safe or needed fixing - for that sort of job, Juna explained she'd prefer creative and smart beings and she considered Lux quite so. Xes thoughts were unique, fun and able to see things from perspectives others might not. An additions like that would surely be good for the court jesters.
Immensely excited to being able to help others around him, in particular Juna, whom xe had grown fond over, Lux immedeatly said yes. Juna arranged for Lux's personalized outfit to be made and a mask. Such proved to actually make Lux quite comfortable, as it meant that less people would notice and ask about xes scar. Less questions, less unpleasant memories. With a new job, Lux decided to get comfortable in Jalia, accepting the jobs that were asked of xem. The benefits that came from this job were quite exciting as well. When Lux a couple of years in explained his home sickness flaring up, Juna told him that xe was free to take a vacation to visit them. This meant a lot to Lux. Now that xe felt better, xe was able to confidentally return home with stories and excitement to share with xes parents, siblings and kids. At least once a year, Lux travels back home. Usually to partake in the largest celebration amongst Brilliar: Ellophesta, which Lux has almost a religious relationship to (much like many other other Brilliars).
Though Juna has offered him housing at the castle, Lux hasn't really taken her up on it, being kind of used to live outside anyway. Though once Lux meets the obnoxiously unwelcoming shoemaker (pre 1st death) Ellie, xe spends more and more time there. Ellie was such a hard bristle, but Lux didn't really mind it. Ellie was clearly really angry, really worried and sour and just about all the negative emotion that would lead to corruption. It certainly wasn't Lux's job to help Ellie feel better, but xe still wanted to. Ellie's views were pretty bad, but at least he was very upfront about it. Lux could respect it.
