In many ways Dante is exactly as he appears. He's broody and buries himself in books. He struggles with opening to people because being feared and ostracized is his comfort zone, even if it's not all that fun. He feels like it's himself against the world.
A magic enthusiast amongst paranoid humans, Dante was an outcast since birth. Which has its ups and downs. The downs being that mob mentality is a threat constantly on his mind, that being open and honest about who he is puts himself in danger, that the world is filled with stupid, closed-minded people who want to skewer anything they are too pea-brained to understand.
This life has resulted in Dante being fiercely loyal to anyone he considers to be like himself. Anger burns in him for the pain and destruction that has been caused by people who are afraid of the unknown. But now, for once, he has the power to do something about it.
