Pera

A buffalo rider as harsh as the dry plains he lives in.

Appearance

As a half-karkan, Pera has the gray skin, blank eyes and snow white hair of his kin, along with a pair of medium sized horns. His hair is wild and unruly, so he keeps it in a long braid, with both sides of his head shaven. When angered, his eyes glow golden. While most valos are tall, Pera is exceptionally so, standing at 6'4. He is slightly more muscular than your average valon, although seeing as he's getting on in his years, he's beginning to sag. He is quite ugly by valon standards because of how far masculine he leans; despite this, he is not haivalo.

Personality

Violent and harsh, Pera is not a very friendly person. He has very little empathy for others and shows blatant disregard for anyone's emotional wellbeing. However, he hates the Karkan for what they've done to him and his people, and wants nothing more than to wipe them from the face of the planet.

Abilities

He is a buffalo rider and is skilled as a mounted archer on both buffalo and horses, along with the use of stone axes and clubs. He also knows most other survival skills, since it is necessary for his tribe to survive. In his downtime, he plays a simple wooden flute. During heavy battle and when he becomes too angry, he can fall into the mindless blood haze of the karkan, killing without thought.

Relationships

Ulfan: The Hawkfather of his clan. Pera insists that he hates him and that he's a useless fool and a jackass who couldn't hold a candle to their previous Hawkfather, but he is very protective of him in a big-brotherly way and deep down, considers him a friend.

Egalan: Hawkfather of the Atlantic Clan. Egalan has always been pro-war and genocide of the karkan, so Pera likes him.

Talfa: Hawkfather of the Northern Clan. He's staunchly against going to war. Pera hates him and thinks he's a coward who is actively harming his own people by refusing to end the karkan threat once and for all.

Ninani: A very beautiful valon from the Gulf Tribe that Pera has had a few encounters with. Ninani seems to actually enjoy his presence. Pera is so used to being angry and unloveable that he doesn't understand why someone as desired as Ninani would like a valon like him.

Fecchpanna: His buffalo. Her name means shithead, because she's a shithead with a mind of her own. He loves her though.

History

Pera, being a half-karkan, was not wanted by his dam and was given up to the Texas tribe as an infant. He never had any parents and was a camp child, raised in part by everyone in the camp.

When he was quite young, he had a lover in another valon from the Texas tribe. The two were very in love but one day Pera woke up and he was nowhere to be found, assumed to be taken by the Karkan while wandering off. He never returned. Because of this, Pera began to harbor his resentment towards his fellow Valos for doing nothing about the Karkan threat.

After losing his first love, Pera decided he wanted to become a buffalo rider to protect his people, as stupid as they may be. After years of training with and raising horses so that they weren't afraid of the karkan in him, Pera was given his first buffalo calf. He raised her and trained with her and eventually, he reached his goal and was officially pronounced a buffalo rider, sworn to protect his tribe and his Hawkfather. That first buffalo served him loyally for thirty years before she died of old age.

Recently, during a stop in Tataheca for supplies, he met an absolutely gorgeous valon named Ninani who actually seemed interested in him. They had a night together and ended up liking each other enough that Pera decided to continue visiting him every time his tribe came by Tataheca.
