Profile
Journey Passerine is often times described as an enigma, referred to as a "Mysterious Lone Wolf" by Dion herself upon their first or second encounter. With the woman's stubborn, strong-willed, independent, confident, and often times smug attitude, It's no wonder why Jo often stands on the outskirts of conversation; always mysterious, always difficult, and without fail, always cheeky. His two sense is constantly his downfall.
But don't ever be fooled by his aloof disposition; Journey has picked the few he cares for, and does so deeply, his loyalty knowing no bounds. Like a wolf is, Journey is very protective over those he feels have earned his protection. He does not seem to care about much to an almost infuriating degree, but he will always put his loved ones thoughts and feelings above everything, and is always the first to offer to help a neighbor. Jo always pays back his favors tenfold, and is a strong ally to keep around.
He adapts well to his surroundings, though is almost always intense, expecting the worst wherever his feet land him. He's very antisocial, and is quick to avoid conversations.
- Jo has revealed that he likes blackberries, the AM of the night, reading, and dogs, even wanting a dog of his own one day. He dislikes fish, crowds, and mushrooms, and cannot bring himself to enjoy crocheting.
- Journey's hair is naturally an auburn red, like his mother's.
- Jo is sensitive to sunlight, and often prefers to do work in the night if not wear a sunhat of sorts.
- He styles his hair in honor of his late brother, Ingrid.
- Voiceclaim is here!
Journey Cain Passerine is the second born child and firstborn daughter of Hyacinth Passerine and Sequoia Passerine, always close to his older brother Ingrid and his younger siblings Kindling and Lennox. He was always the first to help when his parents or anyone in his small town needed it, always following his older brother, always watching his father work is blacksmith job and mother work to protect their family. All in all, he had a very normal childhood, and the Passerine family was endlessly full of love and tight-knit, as was the small village of Steelpool.
The village was notorious for their mines; generations of exporting metals that they had been plentiful in. But as decades pass, the mines became far less fruitful. Governed by a kingdom that kept its name anonymous to the people to avoid protests, their inability to export materials led directly to unhappy superiors, and taxes began to rise more and more as a warning to Steelpool to get working on their exports. In retaliation to a ruler of whom had no name, Steelpool raised their export prices, and it become essentially what was a cold war between the kingdom in taxation and the village in rising prices. Eventually, it was radio silence, though there is silence before every storm. The kingdom had decided to take the mines without warning, and sent raids to the village of Steelpool after a council came to the conclusion of doing so.
At eighteen years old, Journey Passerine had lost every shred of normalcy he had that day.
The Passerine family was able to escape the attacks, though Ingrid, the eldest, was a casualty of the destruction. The family took in two orphans; Neve and Orienta and fled west to find another place to live. Hyacinth was expecting at the time, so the family was down two hands for work, and Jo, now being the eldest had to take charge. They settled in Fawnsville, an even smaller village known for their deerfarms and export of venison.
With a family of eight to tend to, Journey realized he needed to make money. And fast. When he was having trouble making ends meet with normal jobs, he decided he needed something that would provide him more bang for his buck...Literally. So, he would do what he had to, and it was sparsely anything good. He'd protect shops for protection money, sleep around with dissatisfied wives using leftover dowry money or anyone willing to pay three nights of dinner off for his family. This was the lighter end of the things he did to keep his family comfortable, though.
On one evening, Kindling had gotten into a misdeed, and was unjustly challenged to a duel. Journey was quick to take his younger sister's place, seeing as she was only a child, and after it had commenced, he had ended up winning, though with no less sting to having to murder someone, though he came to the morbid realization that it came rather easy for him. Four years of his life went to Journey taking bounties and hits for just cases of assassinations.
At 22, Journey had fled far away from his family to keep them safe. He dyed his hair, gotten surgery to further hide himself, and continued his deeds, mailing his family the larger portion of any money he earned.
At 22, Journey had fled far away from his family to keep them safe. He dyed his hair, gotten surgery to further hide himself, and continued his deeds, mailing his family the larger portion of any money he earned. When hired to a rather interesting job; to assassinate a royal, he took it under the premise that the payment would allow his family to be more than comfortable for life. He didn't question it, he just went.
And so he traveled. He got a job at the kingdom as a knight to stay close and earn pay in the meantime, settling there until the date that his employer had set for him to settle his score by.
And then Dion Quintero, the stubborn, rebellious, trouble-seeking princess came into his life.
There she was, dangling from a trellis. He could have ended it there, but he decided to humor her, and he escorted her outside to encourage her troublesome habits, though the two seemed to butt heads, ending the night finding the other rather annoying.
On their second encounter, however, the night was more enchanting. A masquerade. Dion was scoffing at a persistent suitor, and Jo decided to get her out of the situation by pretending her knew her, sweeping her away. Dion was unaware of who was behind the mask, and fell charmed by him. She was not quite sure how to react to his reveal, though the two left together regardless, and grew rather close by the end of the night.
After Dion became aware of Jo's financial troubles, they proposed a ruse to Jo that could solve both of their problems; the Passerine family to be wealthier, and Dion being spared from a suitor she despises. Jo agreed. After Jo took Dion home, the two shared a confusing kiss, and Dion came to two revelations by the end of that night; One, he was not going through with his job, and two, he ended the night with a Fiance he had just met.
The next night, Dion showed up at Jo's door asking to spend the night with him, asking him to kiss her again. The two spent the night talking in bed, Dion revealing that the ruse had failed, and that she was betrothed to another, a name strikingly familiar to Jo, though one he couldn't yet place. The two made plans to flee the country within the next few days.
The night of their departure, Dion finds out why Jo had come, and Jo finds out that Dion was on the council that destroyed his home. The two bitterly parted ways, and Dion was forced to go on with her unhappy betrothal. Jo returns home to his family, and realizes after a conversation with his mother that he was still deeply in love with Dion despite the sting of the reveal. Though this was not the only thing Jo realized about the situation; he realized that the groom was none other than the man who hired Jo to assassinate the princess. He took back for the kingdom almost immediately.
Jo revealed the groom's intentions, and soon challenged him to a duel to ensure he wouldn't be killed before getting justice, the terms being that if Jo won, Dion would be ensured her freedom from the kingdom. If the Prince won, his plan was never to be revealed to the public eye, and he would remain the prince. Dion and Jo affectionately spent the night before the duel together upon Dion's request.
The duel commenced, and Jo won justly, allowing both he and Dion to finally, finally safely declare a future together. They returned back to Fawnsville to stay near the Passerines, and spent their lives happily together after a tumultuous start.
Significant other
In truth, the odds were never at either of their favors when fate had set them up against one another. Jo, unbeknownst to Dion, was sent there to assassinate her by a wealthy patron, and Dion, unbeknownst to Jo, was begrudgingly apart of the council that called for his town's destruction.
When the two met, they found the other to be an annoyance. Their second encounter at a masquerade was far more enchanting, despite the brief shock from Dion about who was behind Jo's mask. Jo was happy to fake-marry Dion with no strings attached, though grew affections for her after the one night stand that he did not acknowledge until after they parted ways.
After allowing himself to open himself to them, anyone will tell you that Jo is deeply devoted to Dion, always thinking of her first. He adores her with everything in his being.
Loved ones
Jo is highly dedicating to the wellbeing of his family, down to working to protect them and work to send them money, taking on odd jobs to ensure they all live comfortably. This is not limited to his parents and siblings, however, he also spoils his beloved horse as well.
