Personality

Excitable, keen for friendly chatter and aiding others, if reserved with else beyond. An adventurer at heart, Llewellyn likes to explore places and read about many topics, yet retaining information is a different matter once his interest passes, a casual memory applied to concepts and people alike. He doesn't mean to be inconsiderate, though his flitting attentions are obvious.
He thinks himself cooperative but often digs his heels in over trivial matters, however his fixation presents – straightforwardly approached or evasively detoured, all with unfailing repetition. On the flip side he is easy to read in what he wants. Corralling his bratty streaks is a simple task for those who do.
But despite his cheery persistence his mood can be quick to sour. Inwardly a touch defeatist, he naturally expects the worst while attempting to see the positives, pitching back and forth in internal chastisements that may find their unkindly way out his mouth. For someone as outgoing as he, he makes a lacklustre moral support... Nonetheless with low expectations, he can accept most outcomes, and in a way everything is more uplifting than not.

History
After the First Divide...
Background
From a branch of musicians with military roots somewhere up the line, Llewellyn was a tad unlike his predecessors of robust health. He was quick to tire and frequently kept indoors, but had a nondescript (if coddled) upbringing otherwise: music studies, bookish hobbies, amiable neighbours, occasional surreptitious trips past curfew... It wasn't until trespassing a construction site with the local daredevils landed him at the hospital, that his poor frazzled mother had had enough.
Practitioners themselves, his relatives offered to provide extended treatment for his less fortunate arm. Deciding he was better served away from troublemaker friends, she sent him to their care, and made it clear to his circle that they were from then on forbidden to interact with her son – save for one lass whom she deemed quiet and sensible and had nothing to do with his condition. By the time he came back home, Llewellyn found out he effectively had one (1) friend.
In an unspoken tantrum he dropped his music studies to his mother's chagrin, despite the rehabilitation efforts for his hands and arm; his teenage rebellion was in full swing. He kept from her another important detail as well – his developing icy peculiarities that caused his accident in the first place.
Focusing on his academics, he did well enough more for the grade than for any future plans, so the academy's invitation was a welcome but entirely unexpected surprise. Assuming it to be in reference to his great-whatever-grandfathers' services in some place or other, he took up the offer with his mother's apologetic but reluctant approval.
Perplexed by the truth of the academy's situation, it was his own curiosity rather than altruism that enticed him to stay.
Zelders and Voclains
- Voclain is his maternal family's name, who are frequently musicians or physicians; Zelder is his paternal family's side of musicians that has the military line.
- The Zelders and Voclains are on friendly terms, if often separated by main regions [with Zelders in the Île-de-France, and Voclains towards the northern and eastern.]
- Laverne's branch of Zelder predecessors had married into a luthier family and continue the tradition. The Voclains had taken a deepening interest in medical fields, but Lilie was one of those who pursued a music career.
- Laverne worked as a first violinist in symphony orchestra; Lilie currently works as a music teacher for children and freelances as a pianist to supplement as needed.

Home Family and Friends
Laverne Zelder
[ father ] Lewy doesn't talk about his father often. He is quick to change topic or answer with the barest when required, as he has little to say in the first place!
Lilie Voclain
[ mother ] As bratty as his antics can be, Lewy does love his mother and the occasions he genuinely offends her weigh the heaviest on his spoiled shoulders.
While he has no difficulties keeping personal secrets from her when he believes the truth is more troublesome, it doesn't sit well with him to be dishonest in other ways, be it from his lacking aptitude for fibs or his moral compass regarding what should or shouldn't be known.
She often concedes to his wishes when they are at an impasse, but Lewy understands to be obedient in the wake of her passive aggressive discontent.
Keane
[ uncle kenny ] In Lewy's youth he badgered babysitter Keane with every whim of his, and Keane being his best butler-y self could only accommodate. Naturally, Lewy would prefer Mr. Nice Uncle Kenny who baked cookies and took him to the park over Mr. 110% papa Lav, but all of those shenanigans would eventually take a seat in distant childhood as both father and later Uncle Keane faded out of their frequent life. Lewy still recalls uncle babysitter every now and then when perusing albums, but it's a bit hard to remember the exact details of his antics!
Gumdrop
[ pet ] gummy goldfish!! Lewy and Lilie chose this pet together because Lilie did not want a dog alone in their house while the both of them were frequently out for schooling and work.
Lewy finds gummy gumdrop to be the most talented little goldfish he has met (...or the only one) although maintaining his tank can be a bit of a hassle at times... goldfish are a lot more demanding in needs than he'd expected (it's just gummy. gummy and his farmy underwater gardening).
Lewy misses his fish a lot at the Academy. There isn't anyone he can talk to the way he chattered with Gummy...
Tierney Reisman
[ one (1) friend, turkey ] A neighbour close in age if far in personality on the sensible and diligent side, but it is this difference that makes her fun to hang around. With several shared hobbies and close proximities, they get along well enough when Lewy isn't being obnoxious. Or trying to climb in through windows past curfew–
After his unceremonious (parent-ordained) ousting from his more adventurous circle of friends, Lewy attached himself to Turkey for the better part of the time afterwards rather than speaking to the others again. He couldn't care less about maintaining things if others didn't put in the same effort, but it did do a number on his self-esteem for a bit!

Tierney Reisman
[ academy turkey ] His unofficial babysitter at the Academy since he keeps getting into trouble at every corner
Racquel Monet
[ mazerunner friend ] An upperclassman with a rosy crown of curls, a soft-spoken way with words to match that gentle look – and graced with a far more empathetic moral compass than Lewy's own. Aside from Tierney, Racquel's one of the few other students Lewy's come to see as a mess hall dining partner (in other words, a friend). It helps that they both were lost in the vast Academy floors during the earlier days; there's nothing quite like overcoming the trials of finding assembly halls and restrooms together!
Shang Feng
[ friendly but rather Mysterious manager of Few Words ] Shang has this roundabout way of redirecting or simply not answering conversation, but that hardly deters Lewy; he jumps topic or rolls with it either way. There's a degree of respect he naturally has for the older students, and more so for Shanf with that calm and cool image of his, So Cool that Lewy can only hope to be as suavely nonchalant as him one day (unlikely). All the same, there's something about the young man that begs one to question his tact at times... but if Lewy were that cool, he wouldn't care how he came across, either.
Saint Austell
[ amiable big sisterly senior ] If there was someone who could make you forget you're at a school several countries away from home and family all by your lonesome, it was probably Saint, with all her slip-of-the-tongue familiarity. Yet another face in the book of Older Kids Lewy Thinks Are Neat, Saint has a sporty yet knowledgeable bearing about her actions, the sort you can depend on in a kitchen or in the field – maybe not in academics, he's not sure how she is around books, but basically in the awesome ways and that's what matters.
Auriga Lacemaker
[ enabling roommate ] Lewy's never shared a living space with another kid before, so naturally in his sprawling comfort he took the free room for himself as well, despite spending little time in the dorms. Thankfully, Rye's a cool guy and doesn't have much of an issue with those habits... rather, he has some curious ones of his own (paper stuck on the walls to doodle on whenever one likes? That's some creative decorating right there).
Whenever Lewy doesn't study enough or is behind on assignments, he bothers Rye for aid in trade for a few snacks. Good thing essays aren't always handwritten anymore...
Nataša Veselá
[ dancing queen ] Truthfully? Lewy has to admit she's quite a dancer. Even more honestly? She is a little scary, in that sort of delinquent crass way he's read about more in books than he's seen in person. In any case, she's certainly not the type of person he'd want to make an enemy of, so he naturally steers clear whenever he does see her around... if just for the fact that their first day at the school could have done without the whole ice rink fiasco in the student dorm lobby. She has fun taste in trouser prints, though.
Edan Orlov
[ second kill ] It's hard to forget a face like Edan's, especially after staring down at his prone form splayed across ice on first impression, when it was very much one's fault. Accidental casualty business aside, Ed's actually quite a nice guy and somehow so specifically smart about certain things, Lewy would almost consider him a nerd if he didn't look so.. not nerdy. And the initial awkwardness he'd felt about the prosthetic differences of Ed's was all but quashed as soon as he got a hand on .. well, Ed's hand. He kind of wants to steal it again.
