Heya! Just want to say you got a lovely OC here. I love the humour in the bio; the part where the churls started thinking he was a daft lawachurl got me cackling a bit.
I also commend how bold you are to not only work on a character from an unreleased region, but also have them involved in the archon storyline so heavily. Did you come up with the bio as the chasm dainslief story released, or was it something you added on a bit later?
I had him in mind for a while, but I finally got inspired to do him after the Chasm quest, yeah. He was always a hilichurl scholar so the influx of hilichurl lore got me inspired. Honestly I'd prefer it to be a character quest, but MHY decided those could only have one Playable involved so my hands are tied. It's not like some archon quests aren't just character quests in disguise, anywho (looking at you, xiao and shenhe).
I'm glad the recent archon quests have been ramping up the Abyss side of the story more. Dont get me wrong; I'm excited to see what Sumeru has in store, but I think that feeling pales in comparison to curiosity towards the overarching storyline. I wonder if Sumeru will actually bring more to the table in that sense. So far the regional archon quests (non-interlude ones) haven't talked a lot about celestia.
-and IKR mhy definitely cheated out some non-character-quest-character-quests in the form of archon quests. I do welcome it though, as long as they tell a good story that adds to lore. It's certainly nice to have permanent content for lore instead having it locked behind limited time events *cough* meteor event *cough* Dragonspine events *cough*
I agree tbh, I'm tentatively excited for Sumeru, but Inazuma, for all it's potential, was a big disappointment that made me wary of Nation-focused Archon quests. Dainsleif quests and especially this updates Archon Interlude (Aka: Xiao character quest act 2) showed some much better writing, so I'm way more into those than Nation chapters. Still, Mihoyo only flubbed 2/3 times, so maybe Sumeru will be a success! One can hope.
I don't get why they don't at least have a cutscene viewing mechanic in the archive, because some of these event quests are quite important for the characters! I mean, we learned Albedo's (pretty obvious to Albedo havers but maybe a surprise to non albedo havers) backstory in a limited event quest! That's a pretty big lore drop for most of the fandom over time to never see! I guess they expect new players to use youtube to see the quests?
I totally agree with you on the first part and have made my own rant in my other reply HAHAH-
A video viewing function would be great tbh. There are some 2D cutscenes i would love to review. I guess their rationale would be A) too much space used for stuff people would only watch once, and B) If they dont store the video in the game memory, at that point streaming on YT might be faster. The limited quest REALLY is annoying and I have the suspicion they're doing it to capitalise on FOMO. I have albedo and i can tell you his character profile says close to zero about his backstory compared to the bombshells his events have dropped. There's a reason he's the single character with the most voice lines in game HAHA.
