His original name Omari is derived from Umar, but I thought it sounded too much like Omori which is a game made by a nasty person

Hassani - descended from Hasan, meaning "beautifier, improver, handsome" in Arabic. I would call him al-Hasan but it sounds too much like al-Haitham oops.

ABOUT

A former language scholar turned forbidden alchemist.

🌿 In terms of alchemy, he's not the best in the world, but he's among the best at human-to-monster (and vice versa) transformation since no one else is wild enough to dig into that topic.

🌿 While Omari has accepted that Hilichurls will never accept themselves as cute, beautiful, etc, he still does what he can to help. One of his favoured pass-times is painting extra details on their masks at their requests, to help them with self expression. His idle involves him constructing a mask out of dendro, playing around with it, making a false stroke and then embarrassedly stowing it away for later.

PERSONALITY

• Adjective • Adjective • Adjective •

Omari is both kind hearted and open minded, but that doesn't mean he can be easily manipulated. If you want to change his mind, then you had better come armed with plenty of evidence, an account for all possible rebuttals, a detailed diagram for all the over-determining causes, and a moving moral argument with convincing premises.

He also believes progress is impossible without risk, and thus is not made through safe methods or hiding about. He does hesitate to involve others in his experiments, though, so he usually only experiments on himself.

Finally, Omari likes to be prepared when he can be. While he does truly hope he can lift the curse, he has backup plans in case he can't. These include assisting hilichurls in matters of medicine,  record keeping and parley. As for their culture, he's mostly sure it can advance on its own, regardless of what Celestia has done to their souls.

He may have no connection to Khaenriah, but he just doesn't think that anyone could just ignore what's happened.

BACKSTORY

Despite being a formidable alchemist now, Omari started out as a mere scholar of Hilichurlian, studying alongside such figures as the Musk ancestry. His ambition was identical to many scholars of Hilichurlian: to create peace between their cultures. Unlike  most, though, Omari's ambition rewarded him with a Dendro Vision.  Nowadays, he's sure that Celestia regrets that.

Emboldened by his vision he started producing dendro constructs in the image of lawachurls and mitachurls, intending to get some close and personal  experience with the hilichurls. Unfortunately, his constructs had a  habit of falling apart very quickly. However, he soon discovered a  way to render his constructs stable and permanent— alchemy.

Soon enough, the hilichurls began to consider him a very, very stupid lawachurl and would generously teach him in their native style. Through this naturalistic study Omari eventually became perfectly fluent in Hilichurian. He also realised that the hilichurls were being exploited by the Abyss order.

Determined to help the hilichurls, Omari took up three studies: Hilichurlian, the Abyss language, and alchemy. In pursuit of this, Omari would battle intimidating bosses for their materials, explore ancient  ruins, learn hilichurlian pyrotechnics, eavesdrop on abyss mages, read  out half the library, and tussle with the occasional Abyss Herald or Lector. The ultimate result of all this work was a slow, dawning, and horrified understanding of what had actually happened during the fall of Khaenriah.

Unable to accept the suffering of the hilichurls he'd learned from, Omari set forth on his most harrowing goal yet— returning to the hilichurls their humanity. In order to do so, Omari recklessly studied the art of Khemia, resulting in his expulsion from the Academy and his hunting by Dainsleif. However, he could not be dissuaded no matter how hard anyone tried, and eventually succeeded in three acts. First: transforming into an abyssal beast, second: successfully transforming back, third: halting his aging. After this, the Abyss Order finally granted him their respect.

The Abyss Order now protects him from Dainsleif and allows him to study till his hearts content. However, while it might be safer to experiment under their watch, Omari can't help but go back to Teyvat often, speaking with Hilichurls in  their native lands and exploring all the ruins, nations and environments he can get his hands on! As a result, if he isn't being  hunted down by enemies of the abyss order, he's being hunted down by the Abyss Order themselves so they can toss him back in time out.

Recently, though, Omari has been getting into violent spats with the Abyss Order. While he agrees that the hilichurls need to be saved, he doesn't think that taking actions against humans is a part of that! Next time he escapes their watch, no one is certain he'll come back quietly— not even Omari..

STORY

The Traveler meets Omari when they both run into each other on a treasure hunt. The stage is an ancient ruin, the prize is a huge pile of mora, and there are several other competitors involved. Seeing how the competition quickly splinters into several groups, Omari and the Traveler decide to partner up. It's a good choice since, after they defeat some treasure hoarders and locate a map, Omari turns out to be the only one who can decipher it.

With the map, they easily locate the treasure and win the hunt. Even having won, though, Omari chooses to stay in the ruins. He admits he wasn't here to win the treasure but actually to find an entrance into an even larger underground ruin. There is a certain flower that only grows inside and he desperately needs it.

Luckily, it seems like the entrance is just in the next chamber! He bids the Traveler farewell and heads in. Once the Traveler leaves, though, they're confronted by Dainsleif. Dainsleif greets them, and apologizes. He knows he was supposed to focus on [insert evil abyss plan here], but something important just came up. Paimon asks if he was planning on joining the treasure hunt, too!? And Dainsleif tells her he's hunting a person, actually. They usually work with the Abyss Order so it's normally impossible to catch them head on. Recently, though, they've had a falling out. That means this is his chance to do away with them for good.

After giving a short description, the Traveler realises he's talking about Omari, and informs Dainsleif that he went to the underground ruins. Dainsleif pursues and the Traveler accompanies him, either to end the threat Omari seems to pose, or to protect him. When they find him, he's successfully found his flower, and greets them warmly before noticing— it's fucking Dainsleif. Instantly, he summons a Dendro vehicle to run away with, careening off into the distance while screaming wildly.

Despite his best efforts, though, they ultimately capture him. Dainsleif gives him one last chance to give up his ambitions, but Omari retorts that he's not even doing that right now! He's not here as part of some plot to end the curse, he just wanted to help some hilichurls on the surface. One of them was poisoned, and needs medicine made from this flower to survive.

The Traveler asks why the hilichurls didn't come down themselves? Since some of the enemy spawns in the area are hilichurls. Omari explains that they're actually the ones responsible for the poisoning. It's some inter-hilitribe strife.

Since Omari's not planning anything risky, Dainsleif lets him go this time. In the end, he too has no desire to see a hilichurl suffer needlessly. He warns him, though, that if he ever finds Omari using the art of khemia recklessly, Dainsleif will find him and stop him. Omari thanks him for the breathing room, and he and the Traveler head up. While the hilichurls are initially hostile to the traveler, Omari talks them down, and they let the two in. From there, Omari hands the flower over to a hydro samachurl who works on turning it into medicine.

After, some cute hilichurl hijinks ensue. Omari chats, eats, dances, and plays with them all, dragging the traveler in as well. Even though the Traveler finds the friendly interaction pretty weird, they still enjoy it. Finally, at the hilichurl's requests, they paint on their masks to help them express themselves. At that point, the samachurl tells Omari that the poisoned hilichurl will be fine, and Omari says he guesses his work here is done, then.

The two leave, and the Traveler eventually asks Omari why Dainsleif dislikes him? Omari says that Dainsleif thinks the forbidden alchemy he uses is too dangerous, he'd rather let his people suffer forever than risk Omari inflicting the curse on the rest of the continent. Still, Omari can't stand the thought of an entire nation of people being cursed like that. He thinks that if everyone knew, they'd feel the same way. It's a travesty.

So, even though Dainsleif threatened him, Omari has to admit he still won't give up. The Traveler sighs, and Omari says that they can sell him out if they like, it won't change the facts. If there's one single thing he wants them to acknowledge, though, it's that the hilichurls deserve kindness.

On that note, they separate.

SKILLS

  • Passive: Hilichurls will ignore the party for 5 seconds before starting combat.

  • Elemental Skill: Enemy Transmutation - Debasement
  • Inflicts low Dendro DMG in a self centered area of effect, skill can be pressed  for lvl 1, or held for up to 4 seconds. Holding for 2 seconds activates  lvl 2, and holding for all 4 activates level 3. Enemies struck by Omari's attack will be debuffed depending on hold time. Level one reduces all elemental resistance, level two reduces ATK and elemental resistance, and level three reduces ATK, resistance, and DEF. All debuffs last for 10 seconds.

  • "To me, alchemy will always represent salvation. Some people just need to go to hell, though."

  • Elemental Burst: Self Transmutation - Abyssal Leap.

Transforms Omari into an Abyssal being armed with the power of Dendro. In this state, his attacks are much stronger and he produces enough particles to work as a passable Dendro battery. However, if you maintain this state for the full 10 seconds, Omari will be instantly k.o'd.

"In understanding the curse that afflicts the Khaenrians, I have taken the first step to opposing it... n-no, it's not really generalizable- but the repeatability is gold standard!"
