Pre-rising above

They were a part of a school, a large school of sea terrors. Though they didn't have much of anything alike, they stuck together like glue, all protecting eachother and acting as a family of sorts. They had their leader, the strong and largest, acting as the sun and the protection of their school. They were kind despite their intimidating size and always put the smaller sea terrors first when it came to food and protection. They were happy until the 2nd in command, Virgo, the one other sea terror they'd look to if their leader was gone, was gravely injured. A larger more terrifying monster of the deeps, farther down where most sea terrors came to live, had attacked who Gemini came to call as Virgo. It's unsure whether it was provoked or unprovoked but they were all angry. The school fought back in retaliation but to no avail. The predator-like sea terror ravaged through them, as if they were nothing. Until eventually, none of them were left. Most died and those who didn't were long gone. They had nobody left. Except for each other at least. Suddenly their leader was to their side. Being chased. They swam, swam to the surface, being hunted by the wretched and terrifying beast that killed their friends. They swam and swam and, the lost them. Finally, at the edge of the shore. They lost the atrocious monster that killed their family, but they also lost their Leader. They were nowhere to be found. They searched around, trying to not get to far from the shore. No luck. Gemini was alone. They had each other but it wasn't enough. They didn't want to return to the depths that ruined everything. So they took a leap of faith. Reching out towards the Surface.
