Cliff is a war-hardened veteran whose tough life in the military shaped him into a disillusioned man. He is fiercely protective, and willing to put his life on the line to guard the people he cares about, although many people find it difficult to get close to him. He's been in the army for years, finding himself feeling trapped as he rose in rank and saw no clear opportunity to get out while conflicts continued to escalate. Cliff has done many things he regrets during his service, creating a large deal of self-hatred within him as a result. All he can hope is that, being at such a high rank, he can someday make a difference for the better, and continue to protect as many people as possible.
About
Clifford grew up on a small farm out in the country. He worked as a farmhand from a young age, mostly performing chores that had to do with tending for the animals. Most of all, Cliff loved the sheep, and would eagerly volunteer to shepherd them whenever he had the opportunity. He also tended to spend time out in the field with them, protecting them from predators and even speaking to them on occasion. He also particularly enjoyed caring for pegasi and looking after the hens. He enjoyed his life as a farmhand, but as he grew older, he began to long for purpose. After a string of vampire attacks nearby left a few local farms abandoned in their wake, Cliff fell victim to military propoganda and decided to enlist.
After he joined the army, Cliff realized very quickly that it was not what he expected it to be. But he had agreed to a set amount of service, and as a result could not back out. He didn't take well to the constant violence, which his sheltered farmhand lifestyle had left him wholly unprepared for. Despite his inexperience, though, Cliff turned out to be a natural, and his prowess in battle disturbed him in a way he could never put to words. To cope with all of the confusion, guilt, and chaos, he started sleeping around, chasing the highs of hookups with women who were more than happy to bed an overly glorified soldier.
Eventually, a time came when he could no longer hide from his feelings. He began to rise up the ranks, being manipulated into extending his service time after time in exchange for promotions until he was in too deep to get out. He didn't have time for distractions anymore, and after participating in a particularly cruel massacre under the command of senior general Everest Graves, Cliff fell into a depression. Being promoted to general for the incident felt like more of an insult than anything, but still he was convinced there had to be something he could do to make things better. He keeps himself going on that dream, hoping that he will one day be able to create a real change in the way things are run.

- He still owns his family's old farmhouse, and dreams of renovating it when he retires.

Vivian is Cliff's girlfriend. He developed feelings for her shortly after the two officially met, and tried to push his feelings away until he learned to his astonishment that they were mutual. With Vivian, Cliff feels more complete than he's felt in a long time.
Cayden Blakewell [ enemy ]
Cayden is the man responsible for Cliff's tail being missing. Cliff both hates and fears him for his unpredictable, cruel, and violent nature. He hopes he never has to see him again.
Everest Graves [ old mentor ]
Graves was Cliff's mentor. After training under him, Cliff grew to hate him for his willingness to do whatever it takes to win a battle, including killing civilians. The two have a tumultuous relationship, and do not cooperate well.
