Antares's Links
His nemesis, and the only person he considers on the same level as him in a fight. Antares is usually used to winning his fights with others within the first 5 minutes, but Rigel is cunning enough to cause him to actually have to think in a fight. (Though sometimes Antares gets too frustrated and impatient and just picks Rigel up and takes him home.)
He never calls him Rigel except when alone - in public he's various foot puns (Rigel comes from 'Rijl' which means foot) like "athlete's foot" or "dr scholls" or "achilles" .
On a personal, private level, Antares is still shocked someone as gorgeous as Rigel actually finds him interesting to keep around. He doesn't quite trust Rigel not to get himself hurt by knowing too much about his plans, so he keeps Rigel out of the loop on purpose. This has gotten worse over time.
His nemesis, and the only person he considers on the same level as him in a fight. In a head-to-head fight, they're about equal - Rigel can just last longer since Antares is a dying star, but in terms of raw power at the start of a fight, Rigel is a little weaker. (since he's also shorter, sometimes Antares can just pick him up or sit on him too.)
He never calls him Antares except when alone- in public he's "Scorpion King" or "Scorpion Dick" or variations.
On a personal, private level, Rigel cares deeply about Antares, fascinated by his personality and energy and, honestly, audacity. He's very afraid of losing him, either to another opponent or to his eventual demise. Antares keeping him out of the loop lately is starting to cause him anxiety and self doubt that Antares still wants him around.
The most travel size member of the "Royal Stars". he's very glad he met them all those years ago. Wishes they hung out more but usually forgets to venture to that corner of the sky.
Absolutely an experience- sometimes Foma wonders if she did the right thing inviting him to the group all those years ago. Kind of a pain dealing with the fallout between him and Aldebaran. Still, a fun friend even if they don't meet often.
An absolute insufferable stick in the mud that can't take a joke or two or a hundred. And doesn't appreciate bees! How could she.
Aldebaran used to consider Antares's behavior somewhat endearing if a little annoying, then he went off the deep end and its no longer cute. They are not on speaking terms. They are on the opposite of whatever you call speaking terms.
No one can be trusted to throw a better party. Antares could go 5 years without talking and then drop in unannounced and it'd be like not a single day has gone by. (But they keep in touch a lot more often than that.)
Regulus doesn't really know what Antares has been up to lately but is always down to hang out with him. Their combined energy levels are through the roof.
"Why does he always give me a cold look every time I enter the room? Does anyone see that? No- I'm serious - what do you mean he's always nice?! He's not nice at all, look at him - well ... - No- Look, I promise he looked way meaner a second ago-"
"I try to appreciate everyone in life for being who they are, regardless of who they are, but you test my limits."
Antares is constantly wishing Arcturus would ham it up more and act like a real villain. Her only response is that he isn't paying her for that. He offered to pay more but her attempt at hammery was so bad that he immediately retracted the offer.
"I don't really understand why he does.... (gestures to all of him) any of that, but he pays well."
"Wait this isn't Dr Scholls house. my bad. sorry about the toilet paper"
"Why do you keep sending letters to my house"
(he gets Rigel's mail on accident all the time)
"I think if I wasn't looking I could step on him. He's perfect height to carry a boombox"
"If you leave me in a room with him alone I think only one of us is coming out of that room alive. And it won't be him."
Antares considers Altair to be the most reliable of the other summer stars (other than Arcturus who only sometimes counts) and generally if the bird trio is needed for something, Antares goes to Altair first as if they're the de-facto leader.
Altair begrudgingly follows him but does often find it odd how badly organized everything is. And is Antares working for someone? Why don't others ask these questions? Oh well. Its too chaotic most of the time to spend the time to ask these questions.
