LaRue is a renegade Lyvian who defected from the Lyvian empire and is now living his life as a vagabondAfter having faked his death by causing an explosion, LaRue stole a flora cargo ship and bailed. He left his entire empire behind, his friends, his family, everything he knew. Using some clever tactics to also disable the tracking on the nanomachines in his body, he now spends his time exploring the galaxy aimlessly, just kind of going where he feels like, forever stuck in a stressful mindset of ignoring his problems and trying not to think about it too much.

Due to being a lyvian, who are universally feared, hated, or both across the entire galaxy, LaRue needs to rely on a cloaking device to disguise themselves as another alien, so they can explore planets and other things in peace. Hiding from not only other aliens, but his own people, LaRue is doomed to a life of desperately peering trough a window towards true freedom, something he's sadly stuck on the other side of.

Personality

LaRue was crafted to be a spy, so he is naturally very good at being perceptive, cunning, sly, and persuasive. He masters the art of wearing a mask, often burying his true feelings under 5 layers of irony and charm. But behind that smug facade and superior attitude, hides a cowardly and pathetic creature. When he first started his journey trough space, LaRue was like any Lyvian. Confident, pompous, sporting a massive superiority complex, looking down on anyone, and held no regard for anyone but himself. But after having done what he has for so long... eventually he's started to realize that..well..maybe the things he missed out on all these years aren't so bad. Maybe planets are more than just toys to do with as you please. He is now much more bearable to be around, and tries for the most part to just charm his way throughout his aimless and seemingly never ending quest to just chill and take things one day at a time. But as time goes on, and with too many close calls it get's too difficult. He knows, deep down, that his destiny is death at the hands of his own, or someone else. There is no place for a rouge Lyvian in the galaxy.

When LaRue is not irresponsibly shoving all his problems under the rug, he prefers to simply live a life of luxurious laziness. Now that he has escaped the stressful life he had before, he does everything he can to live as stress-free as possible. LaRue has no interest in fighting, or other planet's affairs in general, and prefers too cowardly flee from any conflict whats so ever. This makes him kind of hard to rely on in a pinch. But when your lifespan is 999+ years, you tend not to stress about the little things.

His favorite past-time is lazying inside the spaceship's integrated garden, which he has modified and basically managed to grow inside, turning it into a big greenhouse. His spaceship was stolen from a somewhat neglected cargo hold and modified into a flying apartment, mixing together all kinds of mismatched furniture from various places snatched them from. The ship is always on auto-pilot, and taking what little he learned back in school and from his best friend, he managed to reverse-engineer the ship to avoid any of the lyvian's radars. If larue finds an interesting looking planet, they will don their cloaking device and land on the surface, just exploring and checking out the local flora and fauna. Years of doing this have made larue into quite the walking encyclopedia.

Larue's favorite planet buy far has been Earth. There is just something about it. Something so pretty. He loves studying it, and the people. This is where larue found their favorite drink of the entire galaxy: Plain old black coffee. He also tries to grab one souvenir from each planet he visits. His spaceship is full of all kinds of trinkets.

Story

200x300

Early life

LaRue was born to his 2 parental figures, Tylon and Sevbran. After loads of paperwork and a hefty sum paid, they had a beautiful blue egg in their hands. Their plans were simple, they wanted a child who could become a perfect spy agent to join the ranks back at the infiltration squad. LaRue was meticulously biologically edited and modified for just this kind of role, like all Lyvians.

Already from an early age of 30 years, there were red flags for poor LaRue. He showed signs of not following along with the other children. He showed little interest in his path towards the life of a successful spy, nor was he interested in one of the many technological advances and splendor that the empire offered them. LaRue was content playing with a rock found at the beach, for hours at a time. Fully ignoring all the beautiful and carefully crafted toys his poor parental figured had gathered for him. This did not help in making many friends either. That is, until he met up with another Lyvian who would end up becoming his lifelong and only permanent friend, Serpuhkov. They both met while LaRue was searching for rocks at the beach, and really hit it off. Being friends with such a high profile and gifted alien, LaRue's parental figures were hoping some of that would rub off their increasingly disappointing child.

"Teenage" years

After many many talks and "therapy sessions" later, LaRue was finally starting to appreciate what was around him, his empire, the people, and more. His parental figures were very happy to finally see their child go onto the right path. However, the estranged Lyvian was simply really good at hiding his true feelings. An ability that he ironically would have, naturally, due to his genetic makeup. In truth, LaRue was stressed. The insane amount of hard work expected of Lyvian students to get anywhere in life was more than he could handle. Everyone around him seemed like this perfectly crafted trophy, meanwhile he was like an off-brand figurine. School was hard enough, and the countless years of schools and classes and universities did not help. Despite a Lyvian's lifespan being longer than we can possibly fathom, Larue STILL felt like it was far too long, even for him. Fortunately, his close friend Serpuhkov was always there for him, which was really the only way LaRue was ever able to pass any classes or make it in general.

As the years flew by, the stressed and anxiety filled alien enrolled in a "general studies" university and moved to another planet, from his ever so hopeful parents. That itself was a load off his nonexistent shoulders. The general studies courses are for Lyvians who have yet to really decide what to do with their life, or those who have trouble following trough with their role in society. However, the truth is, these courses are where all the losers and aimless idiots are dumped, who have no goals in life and no bright futures. As you can imagine, everyone in this class are heavily looked down upon, and the entire course underfunded.

Current Life

The pressure of preforming well, doing his best, never being good enough, his parental figures's disapproval, and fear of being sent to a planet for "troubled Lyvians" would lead up to his breaking point. LaRue had enough. It was obvious he would never make it in this society. He never understood why he couldn't just be perfect like all the others. Why was he not working? Had the bio lab workers made a mistake when growing him? No, impossible. That would never happen. He had to leave.. but, desertion and going against your own people in the Lyvian empire is one of the worst crimes you can do. So, LaRue, being the clever creature he is, came up with a plan.

LaRue was fortunate enough to have Serpuhkov as a friend. Serph was incredibly skilled and talented, so he often got a ton of scholarships and support from his peers for doing so well. This included access to some of the latest tech and weaponry, as well as off-limit locations in the empire. Serph, being the kind friend he is, would always share these things with his friend, despite that being strictly forbidden. But due to his status, nobody suspected anything. And LaRue was a good liar. Using the knowledge he had gathered, LaRue managed to set his plan into action, using his naturally born skills for the task.

He stole a pretty powerful bomb from the weapons bay, and planted it in an area nobody would bother checking, near his school. Being in a course that is so underfunded, they did not have good security, so nobody noticed. He set it off the day after, when the class was on their way in the area for a field trip, and faked his death. In the ensuing chaos that followed, LaRue grabbed whatever ship he had near him, and bailed. The plan worked perfectly. He quickly reverse engineered it to be untraceable, and just like that, left his entire life, baggage and stress behind him. Once the initial days of euphoria settled, he realized that he was effectively on his own. It was finally time to figure out what he wanted to do. Most importantly, he had to lay low and learn to use the resources he could find to hide himself from the entire galaxy, and now, his own people. And he hopes to god that Serpuhkov never found out. Maybe once enough time passes.. his heart will stop hurting so much. We'll see.

Appearance

Never changing his skin color or decorating himself once, ever, LaRue has a very nice but kinda plain coat color. The skin texture is similar to an orange. LaRue, like most Lyvians, looks like a mixture of a common dog and a salamander. They have no collarbone, making him able to fit into any nook and cranny with ease. Their "paw pads" allows him to stick to walls, and make him very quiet and light on his feet.

He is also very flexible, being able to twist and turn with relative ease, and can almost turn his head 275 degrees around, like an owl. LaRue was designed with the very purpose of espionage. His defense is depressingly low, and his small pathetic claws is all he really has to combat. The "ears" Function as both hearing and sensing vibrations and other things in the air. Having no teeth, LaRue can't bite, but his muzzle is very hard, so he can "peck" with enough force to break open most things. The pretty diamond on the end of his tail is only for show. If it breaks off, a new can re-grow.

Space armor

Since Lyvians can just genetically modify and redesign their entire bodies to whatever they want, with whatever material they want, they do not use armor in this sense. LaRue wears none either, but he loves to dress up with some pieces he manages to snag.

Trivia

Notes

  • The crystal on his tail tip was something his parental figures embedded onto it, after an accident had cut off the tip. This was against his will, and LaRue does not really like it.
  • Since he cannot eat much of the various foods found in the galaxy, he has to use a machine that "converts" it to something compatible with his stomach. He can handle most liquids however.
  • His favorite planet is Earth. Being such a common and boring planet in the empire's endless catalogue, LaRue gets to visit it without much question.
  • Has never been anywhere outside of his spaceship without his cloaking device. As far as everyone is concerned, he is dead.
  • Interestingly, there is a nanomachine jammer on the spaceship he stole. He never understood why, but this allows him to go anywhere without any Lyvian ships or planets pinging him.
  • Being so good at escaping and hiding from conflict is vital. If he gets injured, he's fucked. There are no empires anywhere in the galaxy that has the knowledge to fix the complex symbiotic machinery on his body. So far, he has only suffered minor injuries.

Skills

  • Skill: Naturally proficient in sneaking and spying.
  • Skill: Has very good hearing, better then most.
  • Skill: Can stick to walls or most surfaces, and is quiet when moving around.
  • Skill: Can use the end of his muzzle as a club, or "peck" at things with great force. Can break open skulls or most items.
  • Skill: Is incredibly perceptive, and can easily win over others with his charm and wit.
  • Skill: Very light and fast. Can run and jump very well.

Relationships

Serpuhkov Best friend

His closest, best friend. And only friend, really. Serph was always there for LaRue, always helping him with his struggles, always willing to listen to him, and tried his best to motivate LaRue to do his best no matter what. He is basically everything LaRue wishes he could be. Perfect student, skilled, rich, and well liked by everyone. LaRue loves Serph's seemingly infinite patience and kindness, and in turn Serph loved LaRue's charm, wit, and unusual interests. He was interesting, unlike everyone else. They spend a lot of time together, and Serph shared anything he knew with LaRue, hoping that might spark some sort of inspiration in his lost best friend's head. They often spent their time hacking into the locks of the convenience stores after-hours and stealing snacks. He and LaRue were often working on assignments together in school, despite LaRue's slacking.

Parental figures Tylon and Sevbran

LaRue's parents. They want only whats best for their child. They love him, and want him to succeed. Sadly, despite trying their hardest to make sure LaRue does well, it ended up only further alienating him from them. They would listen and help him out, but only in their own way. No matter how much LaRue would try to talk to them, they never really listened. When LaRue once injured the tip of his tail, they thought they would give him a gift to cheer him up, by embedding a pretty organic crystal where the tip would be. Despite LaRue never wanting his tail edited in any way, they wouldn't listen. Any Lyvian would be ecstatic to have their first body modification. Why would he be against it? This just further cemented his decision to keep the contact with them minimal.
