Joshua Buren

A curiosity to some, described as a “child of the sea.” His origins remain a mystery. What’s known is that when he was a baby, he was taken in by another merfolk family after being found alone in a reef. When Joshua turned 18, he decided to begin explore the oceans, claiming he felt a calling in his heart to see the world.  So he set off to travel, living a rather nomadic life.

In his travels, Joshua began to develop a reputation as a sort of folk hero. According to stories by other merfolk, he’s been seen helping out those in danger from the many threats under the sea, breaking up fights between people, and defending smaller merfolk villages from being terrorized by more hostile groups.

Joshua is also said to sometimes explore the surface in human form as well, just so he can get a better grasp of the various civilizations above. There are conflicting views on whether or not if he should, given the reluctance to reveal merfolk to human civilization. Some say however he is trying to be a mediator for not only between merfolk groups, but also between humanity and merfolk civilization. In fact, rumor also has it Joshua will also help humans who are drowning. Whether all of this is true or not has yet to be answered, but for now, people at least agree that Joshua is doing his best to help the world be a better place.
