i. early life

Chandra was born the elven daughter of the king and queen of the land. Only, there was one issue - the king and queen were miiredene taking the forms of elves. The fact that their child was an elf caused many complications. Chandra didn't really care back then, as long as their parents loved them. Although... the more time they spent observing their miiredine family - their parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, the more they felt left out. They were the only elf. They couldn't do so many of the things their family could do, and no one made much of an effort to accommodate Chandra. Things only got worse when their parents had another child - a miiredine son. He was showered with affection - the attention Chandra had always craved but never received. Chandra knew their parents cared for them, but it was clear who the favorite was.

ii. teenage years

It was only in Chandra's early teenage years did they meet the elf they had been betrothed to since birth. They immediately hit it off. Their fiancée felt like the only one they could trust to care about them as them rather than as the heir to the throne. They told each other everything - well... almost everything. Chandra still couldn't tell him about their family being miiredene - that was a secret that must never be revealed - or that was what had been drilled into their head since birth, at least.
However, one day, their fiancée discovered the secret by accident, and was soon killed in order to keep the secret safe. Chandra was devastated. In order to get back at their family for killing the only person they had ever truly cared about, they revealed the family's secret to the world, except they revealed it with a twist, claiming that shapeshifters had taken the place of the royal family, and that their real family was missing. They had their family executed as imposters and took their place as ruler of the land.

iii. adulthood

Now, Chandra spends their time ruling the kingdom, with a pastime of hunting down miiredene and capturing them. It had been discovered years ago, back when their fiancée was alive, that they couldn't have children, which had caused their brother to be given the title of heir to the throne. Many people now wondered what Chandra would do about an heir, now that their brother was gone, but Chandra wasn't worried. Their focus was on the here and now - they'd worry about the future when it arrived.
