Hecate

A Stargazer maiden with psychic powers and a pistol-sword. Her family was long-standing conservative and believed in Stargazer with all their heart, but ostracized their youngest daughter Hecate, scolding her for her gradient so much like a goddess they refused to name. It didn't help that from a long curse in her family, she'd been born with a third "eye" that appeared as if it were a marking that gifted her with psychic powers. It often blinked and frightened those around her.

Hecate grew to be afraid of her family and, hitching some of their money and most of their weapons, ran.

Along her travels Hecate encountered a weak-willed inkdrian woman named Lethe. Lethe had wanted more than anything to be a Stargazer maiden, and Hecate had wanted more than anything to be free, so she offered Lethe this: She'd use her psychic powers to let Lethe take her place in the family. Lethe would be loved there, being a beautiful Common inkdrian with no unsightly gradienting or blemishes. In return, she would give Hecate her housing and tell her everything she knew about goddesses that Stargazer maidens could not name.

Lethe had swallowed heavily, something like regret in her eyes for the briefest moment, but nodded. It would be better for both of them, after all.
