sol

Sol is a moth with large, white eyes and a cream head. she has long, feathery, dark grey antennae, a fluffy white neck and cloak speckled with thin dark gray spots. she has a short gray legs and arms, and a fuzzy yellow body. she wears a coat over her cloak with the pattern of a sun rising, and small yellow tassels. she also wears a shiny golden necklace with two smaller beads and one big star shaped pendant in the center. Sol was inspired by the real life white ermine moth.

Design Notes

• colors can be a little more saturated- they are mostly dull on the reference to fit better with the color pallete of the game.
• spots do not have to be exact, but they should still have the same overall placement on the body and same shape.

Sol was raised in the moth tribe during a time where their worship of the radiance was at its peak. Out of anyone in the tribe, Sol was by far the most zealous and dedicated to the radiance, she even donned a coat with a pattern of the sun in honour of the light that had birthed their tribe.

Soon after the pale king arrived, the moth tribe began worshipping the pale king instead of the radiance, and Sol was absolutley furious. She despised the pale king, believing him to be disrupting the natural order by expanding the minds of bugs through his beacon. Sol left the tribe soon after. Sol travelled across the kingdom preaching about the radiance to the bugs of Hallownest in attempt to keep her memory alive, however her attempts were largely ineffective. The bugs granted higher thought were fiercely loyal to the pale king.

The Infection

Soon the infection began to appear, plauging the dreams of bugs and reverting them to their primal instincts. Sol believed that this wasn't the "true radiance", thinking she would never do something so awful, and set out to calm her "rage" by continuing her preaching, however she was eventually forced to flee the more inhabited places in Hallownest due to the increasing danger of the infection. She eventually reached the kingdom's edge, where she was almost killed by a belfly however Veph saved her. Sol stayed with him for a while, as they had bonded over their simillar experinces. Over time she began having strange dreams, but she was in denial that it could possibly be the infection. However her dreams became more intense, and kept telling her to kill Veph. She woke one night and realised she was infected. Realsing the radiance wouldn't protect her, she took Veph's spear, and with the last of her senses, killed herself in order to protect Veph.

Trivia

• Sol didn't realise, but her preaching to the bugs of Hallownest actually contributed to the further spread of the infection, by helping the last of her memory continually linger in the mind of bugs.
• She was buried at Hallownest's crown by Veph.
