Vanriel is tall and willowy, with slender shoulders and narrow hips. If not for his wings, the angel could easily be mistaken for an elf in build, aided by fine facial features and slightly pointed ears. His skin is faintly tanned, and he has patterns resembling nebula splattered across his entire body. Faint splotches of purple and blue that resemble cloud formations are most visible across his back, shoulders and calves and his entire body is dotted with darker purple freckles. When the angel blushes, it's in a shade of purple as well.
His eyes are a bit strange and striking, appearing to be a light shade of blue with pinkish-purple near the navy blue pupils, overall looking a bit iridescent and reflecting light in a way to make them appear to glow with their own inner light. His hair is a dark-ish shade of purple, with most of it being kept short and messy save for a long, slender three strand braid that reaches his ankles when left unattended. Often, he keeps it wrapped loosely around his neck, almost like a scarf.

Realistically, Vanriel is actually a member of an alien species called The Akryl rather than a "space" angel, but his species has found it easier to just accept the moniker of Space Angels due to the benefits such an assumption gives them in many situations. They do not, however, reside in the Heavens with other angels.
These space angels are created in the heart of stars, and all are capable of manipulating their personal gravity. Members of the species do not need to breathe and are completely capable of existing out in space (their natural habitat) without any external help. They seem to be fueled by some nature of thermonuclear fusion, similar to that which takes place within stars, and are thusly incredibly warm compared to most species, although usually not untouchably so. They do, however, need to rest/sleep semi-regularly.
Pure-bred Akyrl can only be formed when a pair of Akyrl mate within the heart of a star, and rather than forming within the mother as is normal, the entirety of an Akyrl's gestational period is spent within the star where their parents mated. Most female Akyrl lack wombs, and thus cannot carry a child to term within their bodies, while males are cross-fertile with females of some other humanoid species.
Akyrl have established a city, Senabeph, within the asteroid belt of the Sol system, but it seems to be the only place they congregate in "large" numbers. Senabeph is ruled by a council of Elders, the oldest Akyrl who originally initiated contact with creatures from earth. The Elders more-or-less established that when interacting with anyone outside their own race, the Akyrl ought to present themselves as more-or-less stereotypical "Christian Angels", although at one point female Akyrl often "disguised" themselves as norse Valkyries. The Elders, however, can only really enforce this behavior upon citizens of Senabeph.
