Astari is a sadistic menace. Friendship is a foreign concept to her, so much so that she initially believed it to be another word for subservience, and she quickly wrote it off as being "dumb and way overrated" after learning that friends aren't people who follow your every command. The reason why Astari acts like such a bully is that she's lonely and wants companionship, albeit in her own cruel and antagonizing way. Although she understands, in a way, that she longs for companionship, she continuously denies it.  

When Astari is in love, she acts more ‘tsundere’-like and acts like she hates her partner, but in reality, it's the polar opposite. She denies any form of affection at first due to not wanting to show weakness.
