Dorby is able to appreciate the world from a unique perspective as they have only known the life of an esk. The behavior and lives of the living are fascinating to them.
At a young age, before they could even fly, Dorby fell from their nest over a long abandoned road. The hot pavement and overbearing sun ended him long before starvation could. They were found and transformed by Municipality, who they cling to much like a mother, even if neither of them realize what that means.
