Profile

this is the result of me mashing all of my favorite characters' traits into one individual. they are the perfect being

PERSONALITY:

Around people they don't know, Linin is a collected and introverted individual. They are polite, unless they're annoyed. Once they're annoyed with someone, they become rather snippy, sassy, and make unnecessary comments, often gaining them negative attention. With people that they're close with, they are very friendly and open, and they want to be with that person as much as they can. However, Linin can get frustrated easily due to their poor mental health, and they cry and become depressed rather easily, although they don't let many people see it.

APPEARANCE:

Linin has thick, curly and fluffy off-white hair. They often pull the top half back into a ponytail, but sometimes pull all of it back. They have sectoral heterochromia that deters their vision, and so they wear glasses. Their pupils are slitted like a dragon's. They're about 5'6", and sometimes wear boots with a bit of a heel to increase that height. They love wearing big sweaters, and often wear a white lab coat over top when they have work to do.

BACKSTORY:

tw for domestic violence, guns, death, blood and multiple suicide attempts.

Linin's parents always had a rocky relationship. Linin only vaguely remembers their parents, and none of the memories are good. When they were six years old, they were awoken in the middle of the night to fighting, slamming, gunshots, and then silence. They came out of bed to find their mother, beaten, cut with a knife, and having bled out through multiple gun shot wounds to her stomach and chest, and their father slumped against the wall, having taken his own life with a gun shot to the head. Linin screamed and begged their mother to wake up as their neighbors and the cops banged down the door and came in. They were whisked away, taken to the hospital to check for wounds.

Linin was brought to an orphanage not long after. They were bullied and teased by the other kids there, and either always hid in their bed, or stayed out late at the library or at their school, not wanting to go back. They were taken into several different foster homes, but they were never adopted. The closest thing they had to a parent was a woman named Elizabeth, who was an FBI agent that took Linin in when they were 15. She took good care of them, making sure they had everything they needed. This didn't stop Linin from going through their rebellious teenager stage, sleeping around, drinking and smoking weed. Linin still had their respect for Elizabeth. They were pretty happy up until she had to go into protection two years later. Linin was returned to the orphanage, absolutely destroyed, and attempted suicide. They were rushed to the hospital, and stayed there for weeks, spending their 18th birthday in a hospital bed.

Linin found some purpose in life again when they received a letter from Elizabeth. She was in danger, and had to go into hiding, but she was still thinking about Linin. They decided they wanted to work with crime, just as she did, and moved out of the orphanage for college.

Linin got their first real girlfriend their first semester of college. She was a party girl who enjoyed going out just as much as Linin did, if not more. Linin however was beginning to learn more about themself, realizing that they weren't a boy, and that they definitely weren't straight. When they told her this, she flew into a rage, calling Linin horrible names and hitting them repeatedly. Linin had to flee to the only friend they knew they could trust, Zela. Zela comforted them, but that night, they slipped out of their dorm and launched themself off of a bridge. They had been spotted, and were retrieved not too long after, unconscious and freezing but still alive.

Linin got out of the hospital a couple of weeks later. They immediately came to Zela's dorm, and Zela tackled them in a hug. Linin started spending their free time with Zela whenever they could, and relatively soon after, the two began dating. They dated for quite a while before deciding they'd be better off as friends. They still remain very close to this day.

After graduating college, Linin got a job in New York City, not too far off from where their college is. They got a job as a lab tech in a crime lab, working under a man who was nearing retirement. They got a promotion to a different lab after he retired, working hard and claiming their position in the force. They spend their time working in their lab, or on crime scenes analyzing evidence.

DRAGON SHIFTER AU

Linin is a rare dragon shifter, and they run into Holloway while escaping their captors who had illegally captured them. They crash through his open window and hide in his closet before realizing they're no longer being chased. Holloway reluctantly lets the nosy dragon live with him until they can get enough money to move out on their own, since it is no longer safe to return to where they once lived.

APPEARANCE:
Linin can shift between dragon and human easily. A constant of their appearance is their slit eyes and sharp teeth, which they retain while human. Their dragon body is on the smaller side. They're large enough to carry a person or two on their back, but not horribly large. Their body is thin and long, covered in pearlescent white scales and some patches of soft feathers. They have two sets of horns, a longer set, and then behind that, a short, smaller set.

If they don't want to entirely transform, they can partially shift. This brings out their horns, wings, small patches of scales, claws, and tail, and allows them to fly.

BACKSTORY:

Linin used to live in a forest New England with their parents. Their parents taught them everything they could, but never let them go into public without one of them close behind. They grew up nervous about humans and others, knowing that they could be hunted and captured as some kind of toy or slave. One day, their parents were attacked and slaughtered, dragged off to be sold for their scales and parts of their bodies that were used in potions. Linin was left scared and alone for years, until they were captured, chained up, and brought away from their home. They managed to escape, and that's when they meet Holloway.
