Harvey Holloway

BACKSTORY [TW DEATH, DRUG USE, CAR ACCIDENTS, SUICIDE]

Holloway's parents struggled with drug use when he was a child, though still managed to be decent parents. When Holloway was 12 years old, his parents got in a car accident that was his father's fault, which resulted in his mother's death. Her death sent Holloway and his father's relationship into turbulence, and his father ultimately took his own life about 6 months later. He shot himself in the head in the middle of the night, and Holloway woke up to the sound of the gunshot. He went downstairs to investigate and found his father's body. After his father's death, he went to live with his grandparents (nearby) for the rest of his teen years. Throughout middle and high school he was out of control, frequently getting into fights, sneaking out, and staying out for days at a time. His grandfather died when he was 16, his grandmother the summer after he graduated. He collected his small savings, the life insurance money, and as many scholarships as he could get and moved away from his hometown to a big city, trying to leave his traumatic past and its effects behind him. He attended college and got his degree, and while time has helped him heal, he is still recovering. He currently works as an administrative assistant in a corporate law firm. He lives within walking distance in a cheap apartment with his cat. 

PERSONALITY

Holloway is usually professional, but isn't always the easiest to get along with. He can be abrasive, short, and difficult to hold a conversation with-- his introversion and perpetual exhaustion leading him to dislike small talk (or any talk with most people). However, among a select few people he has grown close to, he is warmer, and his true personality comes through. He cares a lot more than he lets on, and he often has trouble expressing his emotions successfully and healthily. 

-he has a very hard time connecting with others because he spent the majority of his middle school years being extremely depressed and the majority of his high school being a delinquent with no Real friends (just, yknow, party friends)  -because in high school he was edgy and tough and got in fights and broke the law and shit, he has a hard time letting down his guard and being gentle/soft/kind/open/emotional/etc bc if he did that in hs he would've gotten made fun of. the only thing hes COMFY with is his sexuality bc he was able to explore it openly in college. he did amateur drag shows and had a few actual solid friends (with whomst he lost contact with after graduating lol). he is NOT however confident w Having A Relationship.

APPEARANCE

Holloway's work attire consists of an arsenal of plain colored shirts which he wears poorly tucked into overworn black slacks and with a plain black tie. His hair is long and somewhat disheveled-- he usually pulls it back for work into a tight low ponytail. Outside of work, he cares more about his appearance: he likes to wear frilly vintage blouses, scarves, and anything that hangs below his hips. He wears his hair down and often wears black eyeshadow. His ears are pierced, and he usually wears simple silver hoops. 

EXTRA

He doesn't like being in a car or seeing blood, his own or others'.
He often has nightmares about both his parents' deaths. It's Not Uncommon for him to jolt awake having 'heard' a gunshot in his sleep -- he wakes up in a panic but is too afraid to leave his room because he's (irrationally, but, yknow, trauma!) scared of what he might see outside
