Cosmo was once from the V Branch; a set of worlds dedicated to fire and fire creatures. At a young age he chose to take up a role in the Complex, at first as a messanger in the hub, then as an employee, then he soon became a Complexity and was immortalised.
For a time he was assigned the duty of deity on an uncivilised world in the G Branch, but it soon became apparent he couldn't handle them, especially when he gave them fire to play with. An unspoken rule among the Complexities is to never give a population fire before they can discover it themselves.
After this, he was kept under watch, and was found to have violated many other rules. He was given the option of losing his immortality and returning home, whereupon his memories of the Complex would be erased, or to keep his immortality and memories but be cast out to the void.
He chose the void, and was unceremoniously kicked out into it.
Cosmo now resides there, sometimes alone, sometimes with voided friends. Without the control or pressure from the Hub, and without anything to harm, he can use his fiery powers as much as he likes.
