When the Cataclysm rocked the foundations of Zandalar and the ocean began to consume the island, many trolls including Ko'var sought out refuge under the Prophet's guidence. So in the middle of his druid training he left his homeland in search of saving himself.

His boat while on route to aiding Zul'Aman was lost in a raging storm, and when they made it out of the unnatural storm (later revealed to be the magic hiding away the Dragon Isles) they found that months had passed and their allies in Zul'Aman were defeated. Finding they would have no aid in the Elvish controlled lands, they turned their boat back around to either salvage what may remain of Zandalar, or attempt to connect back up with what may remain of Zul's forces if they survived. Not long after passing through the North Sea into the Great Sea their boat received word that some of Zul's forces survived and were preparing an alliance with ancient enemies on the now revealed Pandaria.
