01.
The Boy on the Beach
Life was simple before the war. Growing up in a picturesque seaside village on the French Riviera, James' biggest worries during those innocent days, was scoring good grades in his classes, and wondering how to impress the cute boys in school. Days passed in lively springs and warm summers with his family alive and well.

The Summer Soldier
The days of war came fast as a speeding bullet, a train that could not be stopped. As unaccustomed as anyone else to the harsh brutality of trench warfare, James' transformation from a carefree pup to a hardened wardog was arduous but necessary. The brief pockets of levity shared with his friend Isaac - a fellow soldier he bonded with - were soon torn away by the cruel randomness of war. Against all odds, James survived the conflict, but returned bearing far too many losses, to an empty home.

Postcards from Across the Sea
The post-war days melted into each other in a haze of cigarette smoke and the stink of cheap alcohol. It was a correspondence from an unexpected old acquaintance that pulled James from his depressive fog. Soon, the two were exchanging letters like they had been pals for years past. Warmth and laughter returned to James' life through their budding friendship, and with Mark's timely arrival in Èze.
