In Trost she was seen as a popular icon, as well as being an important member of the Doorn family, she was someone who spent most of her day with people in the district. She used to always help the family even if their production was effective. The Doorns were known for their extensive production of ground wheat, as well as other foods such as meats and vegetables and for being also the largest Hoffmann affiliate. Emma usually worked for favors or only voluntarily. She was always willing to learn new things that could increase her knowledge.
Emma has always been determined on her dreams and desires. She knows one of them after her cousin, Evelyn, tell about her expeditions in the Survey Corps.
The only closest childhood friend was Lukas, so she always went to visit him in Shiganshina. This is how they met Sebastian, Fleur and Bea. The five had a really healthy and worth childhood together. Emma always supporting her friend's dreams and calling them to play in the Hoffmann's garden.
The idea of entering the Survey Corps came from her who had a dream of seeing the world outside the walls. Emma has always been a determined girl with her dreams and she is very stubborn about things that don't work the way she wants.
[Fall of Shiganshina arc] Emma and her sister were visiting Lukas while the wall fell. To save the children her butler Cristian gave them to Garrison's soldiers to take to the interior of wall Maria, but with the appearance of the armoured titan they ended up having to flee to the wall Rose. A military police soldier who soon recognizes the children's family tries to divert them to prison, but a Hoffmann merchant says he knows them and is able to get the children before they are executed. Emma and the others arrive at Fleur's house and after news of the fall of wall Maria arrives at the Hoffmanns, Emma, Lukas, Fleur and Bea are taken to Hoffmann's castle on the Sina wall.
[Battle of Trost District arc] This was the opportunity for her to fight the titans, but Emma was hindered by Fleur and Bea's strong protective instincts and after revolting and advancing alone she had her legs devoured by a titan. Emma had a very slow death. She had her dreams and moments passed in her mind as the titans watched her.
