Mainly because he was raised by a Icewing who he assumed was his mother or relitive, and wanted to defend them on her behalf. Unfortunately for him, she killed both his parents. Where is his foster mother? She abandoned him. He wants to earn the respect of the tribes back, but isn't sure how.
