About

Appearance

The average size for an apprentice, maybe on the smaller end. Classic grey tabby with darker grey stripes in extremities with lighter ginger/brown stripes on his back. His chest, belly, and the tip of his tail are white. He has little ear and cheek fluffs and his eyes are a bright green. His fur is short, which suits his puddle jumping habit. He generally tries to keep tidy but misses mud spots when thinking of other things.

Goal/Wish/Dream

Cloverpaw wishes to grow into a strong and capable cat who can protect his clan and be someone Heatherstrike is proud of (although he will stubbornly refuse this). Secretly he dreams of making friends with the other cats his age so he's less lonely and anxious of the world

Personality

Loyal, Compassionate, Reliable

Friendships aren't easily broken once formed with Clover, he cares for those close to him with a fierce intensity and will do all he can to keep his word no matter the cost.

Silly, Fiery, Forgiving

Cloverpaw enjoys goofing around in an attempt to impress others with varying success. He sticks to his convictions with the passion of a thousand cats, no matter how important said conviction may be with little thought to whether or not he's right. Cloverpaw forgives others easily for their shortcomings but Cloverpaw never forgets a slight

Short-tempered, Cantankerous, Antagonistic

Cloverpaw has little patience for those who aren't close with him and is quick with an insult to those who annoy him. He can be hard-headed and argumentative at times, attacking those who don't agree with him with biting words. He often has little thought for those he upsets until late at night when the world is quiet again

Kithood

Cloverkit was born under a full moon to older parents who considered him to be a sign of good luck, like the four-leafed clover he was named after. His father, Spottedcall, decided that the challenges of raising a family were too much and he soon drifted away from nursery to explore other avenues with other cats. This left Heatherstrike bitter and alone with their young kitten very soon after the war betwen the clans. She had very high expectations for him to surpass other kit development stages, which he was disappointedly average at. This led to frustration from Heatherstrike, who pushed him further to succeed, to be strong enough to defend himself if tensions grew between the clans again. Her encouragement and pushing came from a place of love and concern but Cloverkit bears resentment towards his mother for making him feel like a failure. This has led to his tendency to behave like he doesn’t care to learn new skills and his short patience for his failures. He grew up next to Guppykit and her brother, Ferretkit, but was banned from playing with them due to a difference in beliefs between Heatherstrike and Guppykits parents. Heatherstrike instilled a strong belief in Moorclan's guardian, Sorcha, in Cloverkit and that he should hone his skills toward protecting his clan in her name. Her lessons did little more than frighten him into watching the sky for the omnipresent owl spirit who was watching his progress in disappointment.

Apprenticehood

Cloverpaw moved to the apprentice den with excitement to finally experience the world without the harsh gaze of Heatherstrike, but soon found himself lost for what he should do with his time or how he should behave in his new situations. This caused him to become more reclusive with the other apprentices, unsure of how to make friends or if he should even be making friends. When the other apprentices would joke and play together, he would awkwardly watch from the sidelines not knowing how to join in. Cloverpaw developed a tendency to make fun of others in an attempt to impress others with his remarkable wit, jokes which landed about half the time and the other half led to him getting in trouble or receiving pitying stares. He has a hard time understanding others and hopes that he can find someone who is willing to humour his idiosyncrasies before he convinces himself that he is incapable of being liked.

After only a few days in the apprentice den, Guppypaw jumped at the chance of being friends with Cloverpaw. The two quickly became as thick as thieves, dumb and dumber, silly and goose. They spent a lot of their time bothering the other apprentices with their hijinks and especially Rowanspirit. Over the next few moons, Cloverpaw found himself distancing himself from his mother, Heatherstrike, and growing closer with Rowanspirit- vying for his approval and attention by any means necessary. Cloverpaw had the thought that he wanted to become a warrior just like him (a thought that made him so sick that he had to spend the day in his nest)

Cloverpaw was roped into a joint excursion with a few other apprentices and warriors when they were confronted by a beast in the moor. Taking initiative, Cloverpaw legged it up a tree and watched. A terrible wolf caught Hazelpaw in it's jaws and after a bloody struggle, the warriors involved frightened the creature away. Unfortunately, Hazelpaw was lost to Moorclan. Cloverpaw thinks of him often, he had just become an apprentice and now his screams live in Cloverpaw's dreams and his blood paints the soil of Moorclan. Cloverpaw was never the same after witnessing it, he withdrew into himself and didn't feel as though he was allowed to have fun, he tended to fall into pessimistic slumps and talk in fatalistic ways about how something else was going to happen to him and others around him.

Unfortunately, he was correct. Not much longer after the Hazel event, tragedy befell the territories. A great tsunami devastated the clans, killing or injuring a huge number of cats (including Cloverpaw's cousin, Sweetkit). The chaos pushed the clans to work together to make their way to the safety of Sky's Reach - then the Lighthouse. During the escape, Cloverpaw was overwhelmed with fear and provided no help to those around him. Looking back, he is guilty for the way he acted as lives were lost all around him and he just ran. It wasn't until he was safe that he realised Guppypaw wasn't with him and he has been beside himself with worry ever since.

Despite the unconventional living conditions with all of the clans working together, Cloverpaw insisted on a degree of normalcy for his apprentice assessment- that he collect something in Moorclan territory with a Moorclan cat. He managed to get one of those requests -he had been paired with Ferretpaw, Guppypaw's brother- but the pair had to travel to Ridgeclan. This proved to be incredibly lucky as by complete chance Cloverpaw spotted the tiny frame of a kitten dragging the body of a bird behind her. Cloverpaw called out to her in an effort to help her back to her clan, but the kitten was on a mission. He and Ferretpaw followed her to her destination - Guppypaw. She had been trapped under debris with her leg pinned and kept fed and watered by Littlekit while they waited for help. With the joint effort of the boys and some time, Guppypaw was freed and the apprentice assessment was quickly forgotten. The warriors supervising the assessment helped the group return to the lighthouse, Cloverpaw and Ferretpaw helped Guppypaw while Rowanspirit carried Littlekit. Cloverpaw filled her in on all the goings-on, partially to keep her mind off the pain in her leg but mostly out of his own anxiety at seeing her in this state.

Chestnutfur commended their efforts but Cloverpaw hardly noticed, spending every second he could at Guppypaw's side in the medicine den; hanging around outside whenever he was shooed away by her or the medicine cats. When time came to organise his naming ceremony, he asked for it to be postponed until it could be done properly. In his home, Moorclan, alongside Guppypaw.

HeatherstrikeMother - Complicated - Alive
Heatherstrike is a harsh mother who is determined to equip her son with all the skills he needs to survive in the big world, however this is often misconstrued as her being mean and unreasonable by him. He loves her but wishes he never had to speak with her again. He is afraid of her anger as her bark is just as bad as her bite.

MeadowthistleMentor - Liked - Alive
His mentor is a whirlwind of energy and he is often overwhelmed by it. However, she is the nicest cat he's ever spent an extended period of time with and she's patient with his outbursts. He thinks that she works him too hard and complains loudly about it.

GuppypawFriend - Adored - Alive
Guppy and Clover grew up in the nursery together but became close friends in the apprentice den, goofing around and playing together. Rowanspirit.png

RowanspiritAcquaintance - Disliked - Alive
Cloverpaw dislikes this cat and makes it his job to make his day worse. Rowanspirit isn't above arguing with the apprentice which annoys Cloverpaw to no end because he can't win the fight
