Halcyon

"After everything they had been taught, after all those years, after what they had done to Mayfly, Pearl struggled to accept it. No.... no these guys are definitely the enemy... even if they weren't PERSONALLY responsible for the attack... but...they're also not so different from me... from all of us...urgh. In fact the more time Pearl and the others spent with the three young Gryphons, the more and more Halcyon started to remind her of Apollo specifically. She knew she had to open her mind, and Halcyon had done absolutely nothing suspicious, violent or otherwise "typical of his kind" up until now, but it was still so hard..."

Despite what the warring dragons say about them, Gryphons are not uncivilized, scummy creatures who wish they were as "blessed and smart as dragons", in fact unlike dragon society, Gryphons have already realized that working and living together in great big communities benefits everyone. Gryphons come in all shapes and sizes, one half being that of almost any bird species on Earth, and the other half being almost any cat species. Their sheer variety results in a very flashy, colourful and unjudgmental society (in regards to other Gryphons, that is) and instead of evolving to require different specific environments to live happily like dragons, Gryphons instead evolved to be very hardy and comfortable almost anywhere. They have multiple cities over several islands and continents and their technological level has far succeeded dragon society due to their resources and seclusion.

Halcyon specifically is a very relaxed and level headed Gryphon, which is what lead to him being assigned leader of a small scouting team during the war. He can be a bit methodical and analytical and most of the time this can be very useful, but other times it results in action taking too long to commence, or teammates feeling spoken down to. With that said though, Halcyon tries very hard to be empathetic and considerate, he often times loves to delve into what life would be, hypothetically, in another Gryphon's (or even dragons) talons.  


Halcyon uses a holographic interface (as controlled by a bracelet on his wrist) to scan large areas, note down important details and when under attack, summon and shoot beams of light from the palms of his talons.
