Eddie is an introverted and generally very solitary man. When he's not being the responsible one of the family and helping run the store, he's out on the beach or in the forests finding things to study for a book he wants to write someday. Though he wants to move away and explore the country, he's very loyal to his family and doesn't feel like it's the right time to leave while there are important things to do at home.
He wouldn't hurt a fly and feels compelled to help any sick or injured animal he might come across, as a kid he'd always bring home creatures he saw on the ground if they looked hurt, much to the annoyance of his mother and father, though they obliged whenever he'd beg them to help.
- He's farsighted and has trouble looking at things close up without his glasses
- Has four siblings, he's at least 5 years older than any of them with the youngest being 8
- Isn't good at swimming and hates getting wet
- He keeps receiving well meaning gifts of dead fish from Briar in his satchel- he's too nervous to bring it up with the siren, but now his bag very obviously and permanently smells like old fish
He spent his childhood growing up in a town in Leighwynn before his family decided to pack up and move to Orilan when he was 19 for the new and exciting opportunities they'd heard the country offered. Eddie didn't particularly mind, he didn't feel like he'd be leaving much behind, he never really felt like he needed any close friends, at most he'd have to say bye to some acquaintances. And the new place was nice- it was almost right on the beach and far enough away from the city that they had a good amount of privacy.
On a warm and nice day Eddie was doing his usual routine clambering along the rocks trying to find interesting things in the tide pools when he spotted what looked like a human person laying on one of the rocks, mostly submerged. He went over just to see if they were alright but was shocked to find they had what looked to be a fish tail and gills on closer inspection. It took him a few minutes of going back and forwards before his nature got the better of him and he left to get one of the family rowboats to try to bring them somewhere safer to help them, seeing they were clearly too hurt and wrapped up to move for themself.
And now he has to worry about feeding a wild siren with his family supply of fish and keeping them secret from everyone, a much more difficult task than he had anticipated. Though, the arrival and revelation that there was more in the ocean than they knew has really inspired Eddie to change his interests and is now possibly planning to study from the siren to write a ""fictional"" bestiary rather than is previous plan: an educational book on common beach critters and their behaviors.
