Ernie is a lazy park ranger who is drifting through life, and is in desperate need of a change. When he's assigned to show his new coworker the ropes who has a disinterest in his job and difficult past, chaos ensues, and things start to get interesting in Ernie’s dull life.
After bonding over the rough expectations from friends, family, and society, these two become an inseparable pair. .

Backstory

Oliver was always a bit quiet in nature, and he always struggled to make friends. After his father’s death his family just wasn’t the same anymore, and he really struggled in school. He’d get bullied a lot for his behavior and timidness which resulted in him becoming withdrawn at home as well. His relationship with his mom became more distant as she was always working to support him, and Oliver didn't dare bother her with his own troubles.
In order to prove himself to his bullies Oliver decided to take up a masculine job where he can also appreciate nature in solitude.

Personality

Oliver is typically perceived as shy by those who don’t know him, (mainly towards the begining of the story) but to their surprise he is very hard headed, outgoing, and friendly when he’s comfortable. He can be very extroverted and friendly at times, but he also has a limited social battery and values his alone time. He is also a responsible person (usually) and keeps Ernie on track.

• Oliver's dad died during WW2 (WW2 took place in 1939-1945)
• Most nights Oliver makes dinner for his mom while she's at work, which is how he learned his cooking skills. Cooking was seen as a women's job after ww2 ended and women were no longer needed in the war.
• Oliver's ranger label is an education/interpretation officer and he enjoys learning about the history of the parks and wildlife.
• Oliver claims to have given up on his flower shop dream, its only when Ernie comes along does he feel like it might be possible one day
• Oliver's handwriting is average while Ernie's is atrocious
• Rock and roll was widely considered to have been born in the mid 50s, though there have been traces from far before then. and Oliver enjoys rock (how rebellious)
