Personality

Gravel is an eccentric and energetic inventor, who doesn't slow down for anyone. She takes risks often, not thinking of the consequences of her actions. She can be caring and dangerously protective of those she cares about. She has trouble articulating all of her thoughts in words at times, and often sketches her ideas or writes them in the large amount of notebooks she owns. She can get hyper-focused on tasks and forgets to eat, making her quite thin. She also doesn't always think her plans through. She tries her best to be a caring friend and mother, and has a heart of gold and (usually) the best of intentions. She is very intelligent and logical, and an excellent problem-solver. She can get wrapped up in her own head a lot, which can lead to forgetfulness and sometimes, denial, especially when it comes to her old lover. Overall she has a positive attitude and doesn't let much get her down, and always looks forward, even when she fails.

Gravel is a dedicated inventor, and her current goal is to make a transporting vehicle that has the strength of an animal but doesn't need the same amount of fuel to run. She has also built digitigrade stilts for her own body, using them to reach higher places and tread land a lot faster. She also built Amber's replacement arm, which she considers her only successful body enhancing invention.

Backstory

Graveline was born in Western Aerohund, and was quick to learn her way around a flying mount and other machinery. She loved to spend time with and help her father. In a crash when she was 15, however, both of her parents died. She didn't spend much time in her home country after that. She packed up what little she had and flew to Nearika. She visited different towns, getting smaller jobs and doing tasks for money and food. She eventually landed in Muldrow around the age of 20, and met a charming young man who she fell for. He was also originally from Aerohund, and the two started to live together before long. She also enrolled in the local guard's guild, and still works as a messenger and aerial scout. However, during a trip, her lover was lost. Nothing was recovered, like the entire ship and everyone on it had disappeared. Gravel is deeply troubled and scared of losing more people that she loves. She still has hopes that he will return someday.

When she was around 25, she met local guild member, Amber. The two were friends quickly despite how intimidating Amber was. The two lived together up until Amber's marriage to Daisy. Before that, Amber and she investigated a crashed ship that the survivors had fled, leaving a young injured boy. They took him back to Muldrow to heal him, and after getting to know each other and finding out the young boy was an orphan, Gravel adopted him. 

Appearance

Gravel is of average height and weight, with a more rectangular, less curvy figure. She has paler, freckled skin, with tiny scars on her arms from working with machines. Her hair is dark brown and short, and is usually shaggy and unkempt. Her nose is crooked and she is missing her top right canine tooth, both the result of a hard fall she took while flying. She has many piercings on her face, such as her lower lip, nose bridge, and ear, which she pierced all herself. Her eyes are hetero-chromatic, with her left eye being blue and right eye being brown. She also has dark bags under her eyes from many nights staying up late. Her wardrobe is mostly practical, with baggy shirts and pants, but she also loves her favorite black vest that has golden shoulder spikes. She also usually wears her tough leather toeless shoes, red and golden leather gloves, leg-holstered red leather tool belt, and orange-lensed safety goggles.
