   A human Lightner who came to Hometown to do her internship as a klndergarten teacher, but landed face-first in its Dark World. 

  Now she just chills there, babysits Darkner kids as a self-proclaimed unofficial part of her internship under the guidance of the resident teachers Arts and Crafts, and hopes this situation sorts itself out somehow. For the time being, Carry took her in and showed the ropes of life in her homeworld. 

  Avery comes from a mostly human city, and falling into a Dark World didn't shock her nearly as much as it should've: she mentally prepared herself for all sorts of oddities that might occur in a monster town and thought that was one of them. She did have a bout of panic after learning that wasn't normal, though mostly due to neither her nor the Darkners knowing how to transport her back to the Light World. Other than that, she was actually pretty thrilled about ending up in another world. 

  Due to her rather vibrant palette, Arts and Crafts nicknamed her "Highlightner".

   Avery makes for a poor party member. She's terribly weak, occasionally takes full damage despite defending, and if the battle is drawn out, begins losing HP due to exhaustion. At least she's a good enemy for the same reasons.

  At the same time, her apparent unwillingness to fight makes opponents hesitant, and her ACTs fill the Mercy meter faster.

     She can only be equipped with a weapon of equal or lower ATK power unless it also boosts defense. Giving her a weaker weapon makes her default unequippable.

                            Attacks

Shockwave - Avery draws a lightning in the air and strikes the ground, creating shockwaves. The faster she does it, the stronger the attack.

Flash - Avery uses her  buckle to  flash in the opponents' faces, making the attacks harder to avoid. She views it as an underhanded tactic and only uses on No Mercy.


                     ACTs (A-Action?)

Pep Talk - raises teammates' Defense.

Dissuade - lowers opponents' Attack.

Twirlwind - twirling her ribbon, Avery creates a whirlwind. More of a supporting thing and not as useful in solo fights. Can be used to make the opponents' attacks easier to dodge by slowing them down, hinder the opponents' movements to make dodging harder for them, or accelerate the teammates' attacks to deal additional damage. Costs 30% TP.

                         True Pacifist

  An optional boss, she's introduced by Carry early on as a "fellow Lightner" and proposes a friendly match, excited at the opportunity to finally test out her equipment in a more or less real fight.

  An easy opponent, clumsy with the weapon she never got to use in earnest, she's just a step above the tutorial. Two, at best. Her attacks are weak and uncoordinated, and it takes some real skill to lose to her.

  Regardless of if the fight's won even if it's impossible to lose, she rewards the party with her brooches which, by the looks of it, would only be equippable to Ralsei and 1000 D$.

                              Neutral

  Avery appears much later and not much but still stronger. She isn't optional nor alone, accompanied by Arts and Crafts. They're mostly just angry that the protags attacked Carry (though they also kind of believe the rumors the latter came to destroy their world) and can still be talked down.

                         No Mercy

  Isn't stronger than on the Neutral route, but her teammates sure are. In this case she is more of a minion along with Pixie, with Carry taking the central stage. Having seen firsthand and treated injuries the newcomers inflicted upon pretty much everyone by that point and therefore having absolutely no doubt they're here to bring about the end of their world, the girls can't be reasoned with.

Trivia

 At the beginning of a fight, Avery summons her shield rather than weapon.

  If she were a Care Bear, her name'd be Zesty Heart, alluding both to the citrusy motif and her personality.

 Every now and then, she cracks lame puns, most of which are just her name replacing "every".

 She's left-handed.
