(WIP)

Marylin is the wife to Burton. Marylin serves as the one of the mechanical engineers for The Community, maintaining tools and smaller machinery around the area and making sure things are up to date. At home, she helps her sons and niece with their school work and keeping them slightly informed about any news that appears. She's a bit of a gossip, is very comfortable talking to most beings that approach her. She received her scar during a botched surgery during her time at a DIT Facility.

Marilyns kids and niece mean the world to her and like most mothers, she would do anything to keep them safe. She does share in her husbands goals of trying to get Xavier to come out of his shell but since he's still a child, she isn't is nowhere near as harsh on him as Burton is. She's a bit more cautious with Nora, she knows she's scarred from her experiences at the DIT Facility, even if Nora was too young to remember the exact details.

When she isn't working, Marilyn enjoys building fences and little houses for the chickens they own. She continues to expands the space they have by building more fences around her territory and safer little houses for them from night time predators. She sees them as an extension to her children and uses them to teach her kids and niece about caring for beings smaller and more vulnerable than them. She also just finds them really adorable.

Marilyn talks to many of her fellow Atomies, except for the ones that have substance problems. The main one being Harlon. Despite him saving her life all those years ago, she feels that she and Burton have more than enough repaid their debt. She knows he's a con artist who used to mingle around with one that one cultish red leader of their Facility. And since The Community has created their save haven, Harlon has shown time and time again that he's not someone worth handing 2 cents too. Only tolerating him because the kids enjoy his presence and his friendship with Burton. However, she tries to never let any of her kids be alone with him.

Early Years

Marylin was born in a slightly feral group of Atomies. Those that had to fend for themselves for a short while before C.Cs Community found and helped them reestablished themselves into his society. She was the oldest of between her and her sister, Neeva. Much like Burton, she was raised with the same standards and rules in C.Cs community taught them. With that said, Marylin has always had a more curious mind compared to other Atomies, occasionally getting in trouble for breaking things open with the intention of learning more about the insides of the gadgets C.C. provided to the community. This caught his attention, however, and she was eventually put into a small class taught by him that led her to pursue an interest in mechanical things and some engineering. She was given the opportunity when she was older to venture out in expeditions for C.Cs old tech and intern with some of C.Cs prodigies. Learning how to maintain the equipment they had on board and assist with what they needed and found out there.

This went on for several years. Marylin would return from the expeditions, bringing back all sorts of linens, tapestries, and fabrics for her sister to work with. She would always have a fresh new outfit made by her sister before the next expedition. Marylin focused deeply in her work, only making time for her family when she was home, catching up on the news and drama. However, she would quickly head back to work when the next expedition became available. The expeditions generally had different volunteers every time, so she would not make any close relations with Atomies other than her direct coworkers on a professional level. Most who've wanted to get to know her on a more personal level were always left in a disappointed state when Marylin would choose to turn her head away at the end of expeditions. She did not mind being solo. She had her fun with others but it was never to make personal connections. At least until she found out her sister had become pregnant with her partner, Levi. She saw their relationship grow every time she returned home, and only until returning to that news did she did some self-reflection. Marylin had realized she didn't have people to rely on, even her coworkers as she didn't really know them on a personal level. She chose not to create any long term relationships, even platonic ones. She struggled to come to terms if she wanted more from Atomies or not but in the end she chose to try and stay focused on her work, promising to herself she'll try to be better socially once she's in a spot where she wants to be in life. There were important figures she wanted to know first and does not want to let smaller relations distract her from that goal.

Marylin had hoped to work along side C.C. and so she continued her endeavors to go out and find other remnants of their old tech out there in the wastelands. Unfortunately her hopes were cut off when she returned back to C.Cs Community. Marylins 1st encounter with The Disorder ruined any chance of progression, destroying any opportunities she had once, nearly dying in the process of escape. She was able to escape the initial attack by riding with other humans and Atomies, being able to escape with Neeva and Levi. It was shortly after that she learned that C.C. was imprisoned before the outbreak of The Disorder and unfortunately did not survive the attack. Marylin stayed in a camp with a mix of Humans and Atomies, all of which seemed confused as to what to do next and hoping they have gotten far enough away from The Disorder. They sought shelter in another small community that was established during a recent expedition. However, there were some Atomies that unfortunately were unable to escape the mental anguish of what happened and refused to fight back the adrenaline, allowing The Disorder to take over. With their guard lowered, many were not prepared to have The Disorder suddenly run into their rooms. Despite outnumbering the Disorder, some Atomies fell by The Disorders violent outbursts, unable to react in time before they jumped into the next building. From the not so distant cries, Marylin was able to see the chaos unfold, alerting Levi and Neeva and others to barricade the doors from The Disorder. They held back for a few minutes but the Disorder was relentless, bashing the door and barricades on the windows harder and harder until some Atomies gave way. Before the 1st Disorder was able to make a jump inside, a bright light flashed in front of them. A booming voice followed ordering them all to get down. Marylin in a panic dropped down, pulling her sister downwards and hit the ground. Bullets flew through the air, hitting any Atomies that unfortunately did not hear the call. The barricades were pushed out of the way and armed men ran inside. Shooting down any Atomies that tried to run out. They were immediately pulled up by the armed men and thrown into armored trucks, Marylin fell unconscious hitting the back of the truck.

In the Facility

When Marylin woke up she found herself in what looked like a waiting room, being held tightly by her sister. She asked where they were, her sister in tears couldn't answer. Armed men and a short blonde person in a white coat would walk in. The Armed men would pull them up aggressively, but the blonde man told them to be more gentle. Marylin would be separated from her sister, dragged by the armed men. Seeing the Blonde Man slowly taking her sister to a different room. From there, Marylin would be stripped, sprayed in some kind of chemical shower and given a few choices of a medical gown to wear. She made remarks to the looks of them, saying if she could get her sister to makes her instead. She was taken into another room where the same Blonde man was in. He had her sit in a chair and he began to do some Vital checks on her. He was much more gentler than any one else she's interacted with so far, almost comfortable. Marylin took to the opportunity to ask him what happened to her sister. He looked surprised, telling her it's not common to have siblings make it in the same facility. He assured her that she was ok, especially given her condition. He did not mark her off as pregnant as he knows what happens to those that are. Marylin was uneased with that info but relieved her sister was ok. The Blonde man then apologized. Before Marylin could ask why, she felt a sharp pain in her ear, a clip was attached to the end of her ear. She was then given the ok to leave and asked him when she would see him again. The Blonde man replied to her saying he hope he doesn't have to anytime soon.

Marylin was led outside, the bright sun catching her by surprise. The facility was a large open area filled with various huts and guard towers in what felt like random locations within the spread out walls. The first thing in her mind was trying to find her sister. She quickly walks around, wanting to run and cry for her name but she was still feeling a bit fatigued from the prior events. She looks at other Atomies, sitting either alone or together with their backs to her. Then to the towers, seeing heavily clothed armed men look around. Eventually she heard a familiar voice, it was Levi. They both ran into each others arms, Marylin immediately asking where Neeva was. He told her she was ok and led her to her sister. After reuniting, Levi started informing Marylin what he knows. He's been walking around for a few hours before finding Neeva and then again before finding Marylin. She learned that she was in a testing Facility and random Atomies are called throughout the week. And all they could do is just follow rules and hope they don't get suddenly called on.

For the next several weeks, Marylin tried to make herself as comfortable as she could given the conditions. Even more so to her sister, who had given birth to their daughter, Nora. It was a quiet event, Marylin still proud but surprised her sister was able to stay so quiet despite the pain she was in at the time. She tried to keep that fact away from most Atomies, and especially the guards. There wasn't much she could do as she stayed near their hut and kept an eye on Neeva and the baby. When any Atomies came to visit, she would stay by the door but she generally let Levi do the talking. The routine was the same whether it was friends of his or a new Atomie that was lost and confused. Levi and Neeva usually provided the helping hand to them while Marylin remained in the back of their hut, keeping her niece company. When others approached her while she was out, she gave them the cold shoulder. It wasn't uncommon for Atomie here to keep to themselves. She would spend time listening to when the intercoms announced for an Atomie to come to a large set of doors. If they didn't, she watched them be hunted down and taken away, conscious or not. Many seem to never come back, not that she paid much attention to any of them. If there were any she recognized, they seemed to have become more unhinged. A few months went by, she'd seen many new Atomies come through the doors and randomly dropped off near huts, occasionally dragged inside into Facility unconscious and thrown into a hut. See so many Atomies come in and out, at point her sister was called in. It was a difficult time for the 3 of them, not knowing the outcome from it. Neeva was gone for a few days, Levi had lost hope and almost broke down, only maintaining his optimism up for his daughter. Fortunately, Neeva would step out of the doors she was called into. She had a very empty gaze, almost like looking into nothing. Part of her neck to her shoulder was shaved with a very visible scar stitched onto it. Neeva seemed to quickly snap out of it once she came back to Levi and Nora but for the next several days, Marylin noticed that Neeva would dissociate often. She would end up leaving her side far less than usual for the next week. One day she and Neeva were cleaning up with Nora discretely near a wash station, she noticed a passed out Atomie being thrown into their hut by some guards.

Marylin and the other 2 went back inside their hut once the guards were gone to find a red Atomie on the ground. Marylin suggested to put him outside but Neeva insisted they set a space for him. The Atomie woke up, dazed and confused like all the others. Marylin kept Neeva and Nora behind her. When he came to, Levi helped him get settled in. Marylin would continue to stay by Neeva's side; ignoring their newest member of their group, Burton, despite his efforts to try to have her warm up to him. She continued to give him the cold shoulder but kept on eye on him. Watching him explore the facility and talk to Levi about the compound they all were in. She thought Burton was trying to get intel for selfish purposes, much like another Atomie with a missing ear she heard about who's been known to con other Atomies out of their belongings. Nevertheless, he began to grow on her a bit. Marylin saw how well he interacted with Levi and Neeva, showing genuine care to them and also always being an open ear for other Atomies. When Levi was called in too, Burton helped support Neeva during his absence, trying to give her hope that'd be make it back too.

Friends & Family

Burton

Her loving husband and one and only. Once finding him a tad bit annoying and stubborn, she learned later on how committed he is to his people, especially to her and her family. They've built a strong dynamic of being a good combination of brawn and brains, both being able to handle themselves but always making sure to have the other right beside them. She trust her husbands decisions with The Community and knows she's able to always come to him for anything they need. She's built her life around his involvement and looks to continue pushing the boundaries they both tackle together.

Xavier

Her oldest son. She encourages anything he does that helps him push his boundaries more. She's aware of how timid a child he is but surprised to see how different he is compared to her and Burton. Nevertheless, he loves him for how he is and never judges his choices and reminds him that she will accept him and be by his side during his more fearful moments. She hopes to get him some help with his social anxieties in the future and reminds Burton to lower his expectations while he's still young. She built the chicken coop and fences specifically for him when she saw how well acted around him, to encourage him to go outside and hopefully later make friends with other like minded kids.

Hoffman

Her youngest son, her little baby boy. Marylin adores her little adventurer and has seen him develop faster than the other children in the community.
