About
Malakai is a Detective Inspector in the Criminal Paranormal Investigative Division (CSID)- a position just below Rukia (Who is Detective Chief Inspector). He oversees certain individuals in the unit and is the one who assigns tasks to them and informs them. He looks after both Fletcher and Larkin, as well as a few other things.
Malakai is a pretty stoic individual - often not seen socializing much. When observed, Malakai is often doing either: informing people of their tasks in their jobs, and then helping them out, or pursuing his own magical research into time and developing unique spells or transcribing spells from others into his own handmade spellbook.
Malakai is seen as a proficient spellcaster who is very knowledgeable in his own field. His area of magical research is not explored much, so he often works alone. Time and space manipulation have always fascinated Malakai - specifically from a magical standpoint. He wants to see how far he can push it. He knows that other spellcasters have apparently been successful with time travel before but they are never seen again - their work disappearing from the world. While this interests him, he wants to find a more practical use for it in his job. We find him trying to work on a spell that can be cast in a small area that can freeze time for longer than the 3 seconds that he can do at the moment.
Malakai is a fairly quiet person, and it's always been an annoyance for him to look after Fletcher at the beginning of their relationship. He's become accustomed to his antics over the last 2 years - he wouldn't really consider him a friend though. But they both trust each other enough to do their work together. Normally, you wouldn't find Malakai going out of his way to meet with Fletcher out of work-related business - much to Fletcher's dismay.

Combat
Malakai is a spellcaster. An advanced understanding of how to pronounce words that produce magic from ink on a page. Ink is the source of magic, and words activate it.
SPELLCASTER
Spellcasters are most powerful when they know their spellbooks inside and out and can properly pronounce the ancient magic words on the pages. It said that when Wizards were around they were the ones that wrote in these spellbooks and created the words necessary for magic to be activated by ink. What makes a spellcaster stronger than others is their memory their accurate recall and the spellbook they hold.
Spellbook
Malakai's spellbook is handmade - he purchases extremely expensive ink and writes and transcribes spells from other spellbooks or practices making spells from scratch. He's very dedicated to the craft and is one of the very few spellcasters who can transcribe spells from one book to the next flawlessly. The majority of his spells work on time - he is also able to manipulate an environment's weather within a small perimeter as well as reverse the effects on somebody if the spell is cast within 15 seconds of the previous effect hitting an individual.

Personality
Malakai is a very cold person. He's not one for displaying his emotions upfront - but you can easily tell when he's had enough of your shit. He isn't really one for humor or playing around. He's someone who loves quiet and peacefulness in an environment.
Sometimes it feels like Malakai is often putting up a front - not wanting to fully show his true feelings - but most people in the unit think he's honest enough as it is when he wishes to be. They really don't want to see that stoic nature of Malakai fade - maybe the blunt truth is a bit too much when it comes from Malakai because you always know he's being serious. That being said, his jokes don't land when he tries - so he just doesn't joke at all.

- Malakai has a scar by his left eye which came from Malakai capturing Fletcher as The Golden Thief.

Trivia
- Malakai was originally the one opposed to Fletcher being hidden under the CSID - wanting The Golden Thief who he was dealing with for the longest of time to get justice. Overtime, he understands why Fletcher is protected like his is.
- Both Malakai and Larkin have a positive rapport - since both are keenly interested in magic at large and Larkin wants to hear Malakai's theories, Larkin is an easy individual with which to bounce ideas off. He's glad to find someone who understands the knowledge and intelligence to be able to comprehend his wild theories.
- Malakai was originally offered the role of Head of the South West Supernatural Division before Rukia - but thought Rukia would be better suited to the work. Plus, he didn't want all that extra workload when at the moment he had enough free time to work on his own craft.
